| Hey Marci, have you tried giving Layla Yogurt Chees?? My girls go totally nuts for it. The only place I have found it so far is at Trader Joes. I use to get it there in one solid bar, but not it's sold in slices. |

| I tried pulverizing Pao's food and he is eating more of it than usual just because he can't pick it out Yay! He had some potato with chicken with spinach and he is going to have some yogurt and baby carrots later Edited to add: He pooped well today and I actually think the veggie actually helps to form their poop. I could see a little bit of green in his poop.

| Homemade food=poop Einie only goes once for sure , twice if we go on a long walk, which we usually do. I think with homemade food, it is important to make sure all vitamins/minerals especially fiber are available. I make a bland diet of ground beef (chicken or turkey) with brown/or white rice and then add this lovely product Sojos Europa Grain-Free Dog Food Mix It has everything else, and my yorkies LOVE IT!!! |

| I just wanted to update that my baby is eating and pooping well. He is doing so well on homecooking that I can switch in between chicken, beef and turkey and no problem with poopies. He is forming nice poops and I am happy. I am going to continue doing it and try to diversify his food to balance out the nutrition while reading more on it. He had some ground flax seed in his food today and he didn't notice the difference in taste which is great!

| Just like humans, they have their own preferences. Pao doesn't like raw nor dried apple and he doesn't like raw bell pepper either. He likes steamed bell pepper.

| How do you all find time to cook separate meals for your dogs along with regular family meals? This home-cooking idea seems really interesting especially with the poop-reducing effects it seems to have. Chewie is the first dog I've ever owned living on my own so I'm really into trying things to make life easier for everyone. Also, how do you keep the grocery bills under control? My family is full of the picky eaters although the dog will eat anything. The things I've been reading about that's being fed to the dogs, my family absolutely won't touch. Hubby won't eat any vegetable besides potatoes, corn and green beans. In the end I think it'd be so much easier to feed kibble to the hubby and cook the veggies and meats for me and Chewie, LOL!

| My boys have 3 homecooked meals a day, and they poo once in the morning and once at night. I'm so lucky that mine love veggies, so I don't have to "sneak" them in their food. That must be really frustrating.

When I first got interested in homecooking, I didn't think I would be able to find time, but once you learn about it, it really isn't hard at all. I cook up a batch for the week, freeze it in small portion-sized containers, and defrost what I need for the next day in the fridge overnight. I usually just cook their food as I'm cooking dinner, and it doesn't seem like extra work at all. My boys like their food warm, so I warm it for them. I bought Dr. Pitcairn's book http://www.drpitcairn.com/books/pitcairn_book.html and used that as a guideline. I did a lot of research online and asked questions here. There are a lot of people here who homecook, and they are always willing to answer questions and are very helpful! You have to supplement, and it all sounds more complicated than it really is. It takes a little time in the beginning to sort it all out, but once you understand the nutritional part of it, everything makes sense and it becomes really easy. There are lots of good recipes online. When I first got Jake, I worried that he didn't always eat enough. He was more of a "nibbler". I started giving him fruits and veggies as treats, and he loved them! So, I decided to learn about homecooking. His appetite increased when I started homecooking. Both my boys are really enthusiastic about eating and have great appetites! They are really healthy and energetic. They aren't picky at all and love their veggies. I also notice that their coats are much nicer! I really enjoy homecooking! Good luck with your decision.

| It is a bit of work to be honest but I do it in batches and freeze them so its not so bad. When we were living on our own, I used to make a month's worth of food and it is easier that way but then we moved to the in-law's and we went back to commercial canned food and it didn't work out well so now we are back on homecooking but we bought an extra freezer. I started homecooking because I find it even more work to get Pao to eat kibbles/canned food. He is hungry and yet he refused to eat and when he does, he doesn't eat enough of it and then he will whine from being hungry and still refusing the commercial food. I did some nutritional research and started out from there and I do mix some supplement in to his food and also ground flax seed and a tiny bit of milk powder. He also loves his veggie now ever since I started homecooking. He only used to like carrots, broccoli and not anything else. Now, it is a whole different story. Eats anything: okra, spinach, celery, almost all of the green leaf veggies. I quick boil all my veggies coz he likes it better that way. I find it rewarding when he eats his food so fast because he really loves it and then you can see from his face that he is happy
