It is a bit of work to be honest but I do it in batches and freeze them so its not so bad. When we were living on our own, I used to make a month's worth of food and it is easier that way but then we moved to the in-law's and we went back to commercial canned food and it didn't work out well so now we are back on homecooking but we bought an extra freezer.

I started homecooking because I find it even more work to get Pao to eat kibbles/canned food. He is hungry and yet he refused to eat and when he does, he doesn't eat enough of it and then he will whine from being hungry and still refusing the commercial food. I did some nutritional research and started out from there and I do mix some supplement in to his food and also ground flax seed and a tiny bit of milk powder. He also loves his veggie now ever since I started homecooking. He only used to like carrots, broccoli and not anything else. Now, it is a whole different story. Eats anything: okra, spinach, celery, almost all of the green leaf veggies. I quick boil all my veggies coz he likes it better that way. I find it rewarding when he eats his food so fast because he really loves it and then you can see from his face that he is happy
