| Oh no! Is she just tired of Wellness or it is literally making her sick? I just switched my puppy to Wellness. If I hadn't chosen that, I was going to put her on Merrick Puppy Plate. Maybe you can give that one a try! |

| Xavier didn't like Wellness at all!!!! We just switched to Nature's Variety Medallions and both Xavier & Sasha love it! X was on Merrick's Puppy Plate and it made him super gassy and he had horribly stinky stools!

| Have you requested a sample yet? When I requested one from NV they sent me a coupon for a free 4lb bag. It is a good way to try it out and not be out anything. I was going to mix it in with Buddy's other food tonight and when I opened the bag I was surprised by how large the pieces are, he was able to do it but it took him awhile to adjust to the size. The other thing is the first piece I gave him he ran off with it so I followed him and he put it on the floor and rolled all over it. I figure it must be the layer of "biofreeze" raw that is on the outside of the kibble, because Buddy does love to roll in a dead animal. (we live on a farm so if I see him headed for the grove he is bound to find a dead bird one of the cats killed and roll it, GROSS). So my current thought is that our house Wellness is going to be the winner.

| My pups have been on NV for almost a year now. They are doing really well. We mainly serve the dry instinct food, but mix it up with the medallions and the canned food sometimes. We have also mixed in a bag of the NV prairie, which has some grains (instinct does not), just for variety. The brand "Nature's Variety" was meant to mix and match, giving your dog a variety of diet in many forms and protein sources. My dogs are finicky sometimes and won't finish a bag, but we just switch it up every bag and give another form of food once a week and they eat regularly. We don't free feed. It teaches them that they need to eat what we offer them when we offer it to them, otherwise they get more picky. Our dogs are lean and strong, and have much less waste than before when we fed Eukanuba Yorkie formula. Make sure to have your dog's liver tested, as a high protein diet is very bad for a yorkie with liver problems. And sometimes I have to break up the dry kibble because the bites are big. I am a firm believer. Just use the search function on YT, there are tons of threads on both of the foods you are choosing from. Oh yeah, and the coupons they send are awesome, and I think it is affordable for a dog that only eats about a half cup a day.

| you don't know for sure if the wellness is what's making her sick?? So whatever you do - I highly advise you to do things slowly if you try to switch her diet to anything at all whether it be NV or something else. The puppy formula.... I believe has higher protein and fat. I would contact wellness directly. they are INCREDIBLY helpful when you call them!!! I don't have the number handy but you can go to WELLNESS® - Healthy Dog and Cat Food and they have a lot of great info on their site. Also the phone # is listed on their site. (Beverly- is who I have talked to there) you can email them but in your case if you feel it's the food making her sick call them. They make other wellness diets/different formulas lower fat...diff ingredieints... I do not believe the Wellness could be attributing to her getting sick though. She could have pancreas issues where she would have to be on a low fat diet. Dogs don't have to be a certain age to develop pancreatitis problems. If she is getting sick and it's been for more than 2 days you should have a blood work up done like tomorrow. It's 100 or so dollars but it is something you should plan on doing every year anyway. Also a urinalysis. These tests on these little dogs is very important. But you just may want to do one now to see what is going on. How is her stool? If you decide to switch to the raw (which I personally do not recommend changing a thing at the moment AT ALL) But "IF" you do a switch I would do it very slowly like over a period of 4 wks. If it were me she would be going to the vet and not changing her food at the moment until you find out why she is getting sick. Simply because if she is getting sick something could be wrong and she really needs to see a vet. Just IMO. My girls are 11 and 10. we have been through a lot and I like to simply add my advice based on experience. Lets just say it's been quite a learning experience. :-) I have not had a lot of time to spend on this site lately but I wanted to give you my opinion. MIght even be able to still reach them now?? 1-800-225-0904 You could always try sprinkling some water on the wellness to bring out the flavor. My dogs LOVE it! I soak it in water overnight so they get more moisture in their diet. (I mix 1 cup food and 1/2 cup water) put in tupperware and also- WASH container every day. | My impression was that the pup was getting tired of the lack of variety. My pups did that with a lot of different foods.
