| Puppies First Day Home brought Wennie home today. Here is my question. I started immediately on Nutri-cal before we even left the breeders. She was great on the 2.5 hour ride home, sleeping a lot. At home we played for awhile and she would take another nap. And would play again. Now she is sleeping again and has for about the past hour. I gave her another dose of Nutri-cal over an hour ago just to be sure. Is this normal puppy behavior for the first day. It has been so long since I have had a puppy around and with all the stories of hypoglycemia I just want to make sure that everything is normal. When she plays she is bright eyed and bushy tail, ready to take on the world. She has played most of the afternoon and evening with the girls besides her little cat naps. I'm just a worried new momma. She has eaten a little bit since we got home, not a whole lot. That was about 3:30. She has drank water and has done a #1 and #2 with no problems.

| congrats..how old is she? Is she very small? I know puppies sleep a lot ..I would think especially during a long car ride. I would just watch her, and make sure she eats often. Have you introduced her to her new environment? I know, I have not brought home a puppy in a long long time and worry about bringing home such a tiny baby..good luck. P.s Hope your night is a restful one.. |

| She sounds like she's doing great! Puppies will either play or sleep. lol! There's really no in between with them. And, they need LOTS of sleep! Take it easy on the nutrical. I understand why you're doing it, but I don't think you need to worry about it that much. Just keep an eye on her. She won't eat much, but if she's eating, that's fine. Congratulations! How exciting!!

| I think you are overly worried mom, babies mostly sleep, play and eat/drink in a cycle... if she is eating a litle bit, taking naps is normal, does not take them long to tire out.... enjoy her and congrats to you... puppy hugs...anne |

| She is little at about 2lbs and 6oz. Right now she feels and looks the size of a chihuahua. I know that once and a while she shakes, sometimes it seems almost like a tremble. I wonder if it is from over stimulation, if she is cold, scared, or something else. I know that some dogs often have tremors and she is a yorkie and a mini daschund. Do I have any cause to worry or am I just being an over protective paranoid new momma.

| The little tremors could be her adjusting and maybe a little scared. That's normal too. Hey, I was over protective too, so I completely understand! Now, where are the photos??

| Pictures are coming very soon to a theater or thread near you I promise. Hopefully by the first of the week when we have had a few days to get used to the new addition. Thanks for the advice I feel a lot better now. It's like having a baby at home all over again. I remember after I brought my girls home waking up in the middle of the night in a blind panic because I thought that something was wrong or that one of my girls was breathing funny. Ah... Motherhood.

| It's okay to worry...that's normal. It's also okay for her to sleep a lot...that too is normal. Just try to arouse her occasionally, as long as you are able to wake her up she is just fine. They play hard and sleep just as hard. Wednesday...what a unique name. Gotta say I love it by the way. WELCOME HOME...

| Congratulations, I remember reading on a vet site that pups sleep somewhere between 15-20 hrs a day and couldn't find it but did find this. Globalpaw.com Dog Forum - View Single Post - How much do puppies sleep Of course that will taper off with each new week to 10 days of their life. Enjoy and can't wait to see pictures. I love to see bright clear eyes on a puppy and if she's happy and playing after a nap these are all good signs!
