| With itching most everywhere and red spots on his body, I've decided to try a holistic vet. Side effects from Temaril-P and Atopica, baths in medicated shampoos, and limited ingredient diet haven't done much. Hoping for help. Anyone have success with holistic treatments? ![]()

earthclinic.com I found the remedy there. If you find something please let us know. There are plenty of us here that could use some advise too ![]() Oh and I read a post here for using Gold bond powder, I found that helped a little also and she would at least stop biting and licking for a while.

| I'm not sure what ACV is. Can you explain? Baking soda rinse didn't seem to help much but I may try Gold Bond. I've also put Arnica Gel on some of the spots without much relief. Thanks for your input. I will update after the vet's visit.

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have had a bit of luck with efa HyLyt a essential fatty acids bath oil spray. It really helped my 11 year old poms skin who has chronic illnesses. It also works great on getting matts out. Cali is on Atopica with some relief but the spary is just a little something topical to ease her flakiness. I got it at Petsmart on the reommendation of a friend that works at Banfield vets. She said that they have had good success with it with their clients, Can I ask what type of side effects you were seeing with the Atopica? Cali seems real subdued and just not happy. Thanks

| Well, I figured out ACV and that may be something else to try.

| I find Johnny is subdued like you say about Cali when he takes both Atopica and Temaril-P. When I first tried Atopica, Johnny would vomit so we played around with dosing different times of the day. The best time seems to be half-way between breakfast and dinner but even then he's thrown up a little food. At least that doesn't make him pee a lot more. HyLyt may be something to try too. thanks ![]()

| Oh, Ok sorry apple cider Vinegar(ACV) for those who don't know. I'm sorry to hear that Atopica didn't help. My vet had recommended it but also said that if you stop it then restart that it's not as effective.. Did your vet tell you same I was also concerned about how it compromises the immune system, but for quality of life i could see it being a choice. My Trixie has lost a lot of her hair and it's really sad.![]() I found another web site claiming a cream they sell works I may give that a go. They do offer your money back if it doesn't help. I'll keep you posted

| No, vet didn't say anything about Atopica being less effective if I start and stop. He pointed out how much safer it is than Temaril-P as it's not a steroid. I see you're from NY also but I'm a bit north of the city so can't say it's geographical location. ![]()

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali vomited on it when we first started her on it and was so lethargic so my vet had me stop for a week and then give her a very small dose of steroid every other day for the first 10 days and then she was better. My vet said hopefully we can get her to evert other day on the Atopica.

| Hmmm.....so strange how their opinions vary. didn't care for this vet so I switch but when I was concerned about her being on it her whole life she told me it was because if I stopped giving it to her that there was a good chance that it may not work for her the next time we started up..Maybe she didn't know what she was talking about.. But you say it hasn't really helped??? Oh I agree with Temaril-P not being good..shorts term maybe to stop the cycle and promote healing but yeah certainly not long term. Trixie was on Temaril-p and that didn't help much.

• Comply with your veterinarian’s prescribed regimen of ATOPICA. Once your dog’s atopy is under control it may be tempting to stop using ATOPICA. This can lead to relapses and unnecessary suffering for your dog. I'm thinking you will probably have to do the 30 day treatment plan again to get it in their system again. I know we've had some major throwing up and I've followed all the directions ![]() The website says it may be possible for dosage to decrease to every other day and then twice weekly. | |

![]() I don't know anything about that product/site but will check it out. I am desperate also. I was driving in to work today and heard an ad for Dinovite. It said 'is your pet scratching all the time?" and I almost ran off the road. LOL! This is a supplement and comes with a 90 day money back guarantee. Not sure I will try it but, will definitely do more research tonight...
