| Feeding Schedules and Amounts...help! My hubby and I both work during the day and we're having a hard time figuring out when and how much to feed out 3mo old. We work too far from home to come home on lunch breaks to feed the puppy so we have no choice but to feed once in the morning anytime between 6:30am and 7:00am and then once when we get home from work around 6:30pm. Right now I give him about 1/2 of a measuring cup that holds 1/3 cup. He scarfs that down in a few minutes, barely breathing then a little while later he starts dry heaving and burping. After that he's fine and he goes on his merry way. Should we look into a one of those self feeders so he can nosh during the day and not have a set meal time? I read that yorkies will eat until they can't anymore as long as food is there so I was worried about that idea. Right now I'm feeding him this food from Petsmart called Nutro Ultra dry puppy food. It's all organic and he loves it...a lot! Thanks in advance for everyone's input!!!

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I have always free fed mine. They do not overeat...it may take awhile before they realize the food will always be there. So initially perhaps limit the amount you do leave out for him.

| Hi - I got my pup at 3.5 months. I fed her in morning around 7:30, and at lunch for a 1 week, and when I came home. I just split the recommebnded serving into 3 portions. After a about a week, I fed her @ 7:30am and then at 5:30, just split portion into 2. She was fine with it. But some articles read said to feed puppy 3-4x per day. I dont free feed because I crate train. Puppy is 8 months now and only eats once per day, by choice. She doesnt like to eat in the morning. I feed Chicken Soup for Puppies, and she loves with it little warm water. Good luck with your pup! I'm sure you will get great advice on this board. |

| I will definitely be getting a self-feeder after I get off work. I hate that he's hungry during the day. Plus I'll be changing his food since I read some horrible things about the Nuturo line of food causing bad digestive problems. Maybe thats causing his burping and dry heaving. Thanks so much for the info guys!
