| My vet gave the Lepto shot!! What do I need to watch for?! I am so upset, AAAUGH!!! What do I need to be on the look-out for as far as bad reactions, and what kind of time frame does it hit? Also, are there any long range/long time frame reactions that happen down the road? Thank you for any insight.... |

| I think most reactions happen within an hour after the injection, but I'm not sure. Just keep an eye on her all day... facial swelling, vomiting, and lifelessness are all possible signs of reaction. Don't confuse lifelessness with sleepiness, though. Most puppies sleep the whole day after shots. Franklin has had it before and did fine with it. I wouldn't worry too much.

| I'd be very concerned 1/2 hour after and a little less concerned a few hours after. I would not go too far from home for 48 hours and any vaccine can produce long-term side effects but it isn't just lepto. If you told your vet not to give it and they did anyway, you can report him/her. Sleepiness and inappetance is normal for about 48 hours after the lepto vaccine. Make sure your dog's gums are pink, not pale, white or gray. That would be an emergency.

| Often the reaction happens if they get a second shot and not with the first. Why did you let the vet give the shot if you didn't want it? |
