| Demodectic Mange Well when I gave Mr. Yodi his haircut last Tuesday, I noticed a spot on his back where he looked like he was losing hair. We went to the vet Friday afternoon and thankfully, all it is is demodectic mange (hereditary from their mothers and not contagious). I still feel bad for him, and we need everyone's prayers that he is one of the 96% who grow out of it with proper treatment. Dr. Scorey sounded incredibly confident that he would grow out of it, but it still sucks for Mr. Yodi. I absolutely HATE having to bathe him in the benzoyle perozide shampoo (I'm an all natural freak when it comes to most things), but if it's what it takes to take care of the problem then we will do it. So everyone pray for Yodi that this treatment works! We go back in 30 days for another skin scraping to check for anymore mites and if there are still any, we'll continue treatment for another 30 days and go back again.

| Gracie has demodectic mange. She has a chronic case and goes to a allergy specialist for it. Gracie is 8 years old and has been on ivermectin for 6 years now. This has helped greatly. Every now and then they have to readjust her dosage. I sure hope your baby doesn't have a chronic case.

PS Sorry your Gracie has a chronic case because Ivermectin is bitter tasting.

Thanks for the tidbit on the steroids! I'll have to write that down in his file to keep that in mind for future vet visits if it's needed.
