| ![]() I would try brusing her teeth and see how she does.....try to make it fun for her and tell her she has pretty teeth when you're brushing them. I don't know if Petzlife has alcohol in it??? I think Leba III has alcohol in it....does anyone know? Does anyone use Leba III? If it were me, I'd probably try to keep her teeth and try to brush them every day. I would also probably not give her kibble if she's swallowing it whole.

I am not saying she has MVD and I am not saying she has a shunt. I can tell you ANYTIME a Yorkie has a seizure (unless they got into something toxic and are reacting) OR ANYTIME a Yorkie's liver enzymes are elevated they NEED to have a bile acid test. That doesn't mean there is a problem but it is very important to check. She could just have high liver enzymes because something wasn't quite right that day and she could have seized because of epilepsy but there is no reason not to check. MVD can be asymptomatic and there was at least one dog with a shunt who wasn't diagnosed until age 8. Yes, it can happen and if something is wrong, she should at least be supplemented. What is the kidney problem? Crystals? Bloodwork high or low?

| ![]() The canned food you use will depend on if she has liver or kidney problems. You could just go to Canidae for now if you like the brand. Canned food is also best for kidney problems. Or you could soak the dry food (with equal parts water). I like canned better though.

I am a horrible mother, I know, but I don't even know what was wrong with the kidneys? I just did as they said and because they said it wasn't that bad to just have her tested again, which she just did today. So how about this, when I find out the info from the test (couple days they'll call) I'll PM you and let you know so you can help me out. PLEASE????? ![]()

Many people have commented that Petzlife works well, so I think I will give that a try...if it doesn't seem to be working after a month or two, I will go to brushing. Thanks for the help. Just so you and everyone knows though, I didn't unilaterally make the decision to feed her kibble...the vet said she would be fine and that actually a good many dogs don't chew their food (FYI, my other two DO chew), so she said it would be no biggie...but I am going to switch to canned for sure! ![]()

| ![]() Cal. Natural would be my choice for now (unless no liver problem is diagnosed...sorry I don't know the phosphorus levels of these foods, so I don't know how kidney-friendly they are. Quote:
Remember, until liver shunt and MVD are ruled out, do not give red meat, pork and preferrably nothing with liver as an ingredient. If she is cleared of shunts, these things are probably okay.

| ![]() Teri... Just want to wish you luck with all of this. Kiwi sounds like an angel and you definately are an angel for taking in a pup with so many issues! I use petzlife too and the vet said Zoes teeth are perfect but then she's only a year old so who knows what it will look like when she gets to be Kiwi's age. I still do use a little tooth brush to brush it on but I think others have applied it with different things. Anyways, good luck and I hope the petzlife works for you guys! |

That's so great that Zoe's are perfect. A lot of dogs have to have cleanings every year, so that's really great that hers are good still!! So when you use a lil tooth brush, how long do you brush for? THANKS! I've got to take my "before" pics soon before I forget....just remembered ![]()

| ![]() That's great news. I'd still do a BAT though just in case it isn't epilepsy.
