crusty sore on face-tooth abcess? My Latte has has a crusty, oozy sore on her face for more than a week. It's right under her eye and she can't get to it. We took her to the vet last night and she said that it may be an abcessed tooth. We have to put her out to clean it out, and may go ahead and have her teeth cleaned. I'm a litttle irrational with pms, but will she be ok? She's a little thing-only 5 pounds and I'm so attached.

| so the vet has looked at it? Are you sure it's not crusty eye goop? Well she let you clean it? If it's an abcess I would be affraid to delay treatment very long. Did they start her on any antibiotics yet? Keep us posted..we understand your worry. Hope she gets to feeling better soon.

I have experienced this==let the vet pull her tooth if needed; otherwise it will just get worse; she'll be put on antibiotics and the sore will heal nicely; Jerry

I thought it was eye schmutz at first, too, but when it was white-oozy I knew it wasn't. Also, it never cleaned up as easy as eye goop. I'd been told when she was littler that all those teeth crowded together in such a tiny mounth could result in problems. My doxie didn't have rotten teeth until much later in life. Latte's only 3. But she's on the mend, and eating good. When she's not feeling well I make her a pile of poached chicken breast. She'll always eat that.

I am sure she will be okay, just read up on the anesthesia for little dogs, make sure you have two vets, one to clean the teeth and pull the one and one to monitor her vitals and the anesthesia. A vet and a tach would be okay too just don't let the vet try to do both. They do that sometimes to save money and it is not worth the risk to your baby. Good luck
