She is a little doll. To me she looks like a tiny 12 week old puppy. You did not get her for breeding did you? She will be way to small for that. |

No Breeding. She is my baby. :) I love her to death! I just pray nothing is seriously wrong with her. |
We'll be praying too. I hope she does well with you. Just make sure you watch her real close and don't leave her alone for more than a few hours at a time. Also, right before bed you might want to give her some karo syrup and water. |
I am sorry to here your baby is not feeling well, I can only imagine how worried you are. But, it does sound like a reaction to the shot. Just keep us posted on how she is doing. Were here for you sweetie. |
How much does she weigh? Is she gaining weight? All Yorkies should be bile acid tested for liver problems but the episode today was most probably the shot. Symptoms are liver disease (not all and sometimes not any have to be present) are hepatic encephalopathy (circling, head pressing, seizures), vomiting, diarrhea, inappetance, depression, lethargy... The symptoms of hypoglycemia are: Symptoms of hypoglycemia: Symptoms include but are not limited to: Slow heartbeat and breathing, weak, sleepy, disoriented, wobbly, glassy eyed, and seizures. In some cases pets may lose consciousness and fall into a coma. Pets can die from hypoglycemia if they do not receive treatment. http://petcare.suite101.com/article...._dogs_and_cats A glucose test should have been done if the vet thought it was hypo. You do need to feed OFTEN and maybe even a canned food but I don't think you need to feed A/D. |

I thought I'd heard something about her weighing a pound... I have never heard of a vaccine reaction and hypo connection but definately a vaccine reaction and liver problem connection. Ellie's bile acids are quite high and her liver problem could be connected... Or it is just that Yorkies are sensitive to lepto. I think this baby does need to be fed often but I wonder how much she is growing? If she is growing that would tell us a lot. If she had no symptoms before this AND IF she is growing, I think the vet might be "hiding" something. But I think any Yorkie should be bile acid tested and any Yorkie that has the slightest symptoms of hypo should be fed 5-7 (at least) times a day. I wonder if a glucose test was done. I might go along with the feeding a teaspoon every hour just in case. |
Ellie May, I agree with all you say. The puppy will need to be monitored very closely. I just hope she does not have anymore setbacks. |

good morning,, sure hope the baby is much improved this morning!! my Cricket was 16 ounces at 12 weeks,, and i kept and still keep dry food out all the time,,and canned food in the morning first thing, and when I first got her,, i gave her Nutri-Cal at least 3 times a day and watched her like a hawk! she slept with a heating pad under her crate for like 6 months or so after i brought her home,, and i gave her Nutri-Cal at least once a day for her first year,, still always make certain i have Nutri-Cal here, in the "doggie bag", and everywhere we go,, Best of Luck!!:aimeeyork |
When our puppy came to us sick, the vet said that it would be best to keep her on the food that we had already started her on. However, she also said that if it meant just getting her to eat, then we would need to switch her food. The vet told us to try to the wet version of what we were feeding her because she stressed how important it was to get her to eat. So, sure enough, we had been feeding her dry Canidae but as soon as we gave her the canned, she ate great! Also, we kept a little bit of Karo Syrup in her water while she was getting better. Tammy |

I am glad to hear she is doing better. Sounds like you are a good mommy and you are taking good care of her. I hope she continues to do well. For loose stools and constipation, plain canned pumpkin works great. I mix it with a little Karo syrup and the dogs love it. Do you know if they checked her stool for coccidia? If the loose stools continue then I would take her back for another check, sometimes coccidia is hard to find in the stool. |
