Donating YT 11K Club Member | Is it okay.. to give the girls treats like every other day? They are healthy and eat their food but lately they have not been eating their food as much because the one i have in my house is the larger bites and i think they prefer the smaller bites at my bf's house 'cause it's easier for them to eat. So while here i give them 1 or 2 extra yorkie yummies or chicken treats cause i don't think they're getting enough food. They are both thin and active, so is it okay or should i just give them more veggies, other nutrition? I do give them apples, carrots and greens as treats as well but only like every other day. These girls are picky!

| Normally I wouldnt think giving treats every other day is a problem but if they are eating the treats rather than there food then I dont think thats good. I will be interested in what people with more knowledge of nutrition have to say though

Donating YT 11K Club Member | No they eat their food just not as much as they normally do. But now i am thinking maybe it just seems less since the kibbles are bigger, hmm idk these kibbles are like 3x the size of the other ones. The other ones they gobble down

| I wouldn't worry about how many treats they are eating as long as they stay lean or perfect weight and they are eating the minimum recommendations on the bag (then you know they are getting all of their vitamins)...

| I give both of mine a treat around noon and then again after they went out and did their business before bed. A biscuit for one treat and a carrot or apple piece for the other treat! (Or sometimes a couple of cheerios!)

| I give Punkin treats everyday. She gets quite a few small little ones through out the day. I just make sure they are healthy and contribute to her over all eating plan, not work against it. Punkin thinks any small tidbit of food is a treat so I give her everything from veggies to fruit to organic training training treats. I think you may be able to make the kibble bits smaller by carefully putting them in a food processor. I'm not 100% sure on that though. Others may have better advice. |

| Mine get their treats first thing in the morning, then when I feed the 2 outside dogs around 5:00, I give them each a little bite of chicken that we put in with the big dogs food..they also eat their food throughout the day though too.. |

I crush them and sometimes put it on their smashed up dog kibble. I'd say at least ½ their dry food is granualted manually by me. I leave some regular Yorkie size kibble in their bowls also, for their teeth. But my girls are not only picky, but they are lazy and do not like to chew. (or that is how is seems to me, except Friday, she will chew ropes and all). Good luck with the treats. I believe Monday would eat the treat no matter what size, if she likes it. Oh, what we do for our babies.
