| Something interesting about LP I forgot to mention something in my post about Gracie's surgery for LP that she had today. The surgeon diagnosed Grade 2 on the left and Grade 3 on the right pre-op. It was the right leg that was causing Gracie symptoms, at least that is the leg she held up when going down the stairs. After surgery, he told me that mechanically, the left was actually worse than the right. Point of the story is this: You can't necessarily depend upon a dog's symptoms and x-ray findings when making a decision about doing the LP surgery. I came THIS close to not having the left one fixed. I'm now glad I did.

| Yup! That happened to Roxy. Her one leg was first diagnosed as Grade 2 and the other in between Grade 2 and 3. Once the Ortho Specialist was in her legs doing surgery, she found that the Grade 2 knee cap was facing the wrong way . After surgery she downgraded the other leg to Grade 1 |

| Sometimes I wonder if Ellie has it. She doesn't carry her legs but her knees crack a lot.

| Oh yes, that 'clicking' noise - that's what we first started to hear and feel with Roxy and then TJ |

I can't afford it and I don't want to put her through it. So clicking equals bad.. NO Now I wonder what grade she is... She jumps way way way too much and I think it might be acquired. I know all vets are different but how idd you get it diagnosed...xray or exam?

Mine were evaluated by a Vet and Ortho Specialist. No xrays b/c they were certain. I have foam ramps that lead up to the couches. Our beds are too high for jumping and none of them use the stairs inside of our house. TJ is the fisty one and he does jump off the couch from time to time | |
