				   | So sorry I missed this thread until now, I usually look in Sick and Injured for updates on surgeries. I'm glad your little one is doing well. Please let me know if you have any questions. Gracie is 2 1/2 weeks out from her bilateral LP surgery.

				   | i just found out yesterday that max needs the knee surgery on his back left leg. He is 8 yrs. old and just started limping about 3 weeks ago. Xrays show a torn ligament and dislocated patella. The quote I got here in Florida is $2000-2300. It will be a 10 week recovery period. the thing is that we are going to Italy before the 10 weeks is up. I don't want to leave him with someone with a recovering leg. any advice? |

				   | Our trip can't be changed. I am going to ask the vet how soon he needs to have the surgery. We will be here for the first 8 weeks of his recovery then we will be gone. |

				   | well i know VERY little baout the recovery.. however i'd imagine that after 2 months the recovery is not as touch and go.... is there someone you could trust to leave him with tha tcan just be sure he doesn't over do it? I don't think he will require pain meds at that point. You might want to PM Gracie2006 and see what she thinks.. she is going through it right now! |

I really believe the recovery period is the most important time... if you do one mistake, you can be doing the surgery again and that's not good to both Max's leg or your pocket... again, this is just MY OPINION... but only you know what's best for you and your family. Good luck!

				   | Hi , Thanks for your concern. I have decided to postpone the surgery until after our trip to Italy. The main reason now is that he has some kidney problems. The vet(specialist) thinks he's either in the early stages of renal failure or he has an immune disease caused from a tick bite. He also has high blood pressure. So he's on 1/4 baby aspirin, omega fatty acids, dasequin, and enalapril daily. He is still limping but i want to see what happens with his kidneys before he goes under the knife. |

				   | thanks for asking bbrewser... we're actually right about to go have a visit with the vet for her checkup... i'll post later to let you know what he says... but we've gotten her of the rimydel and she's still crated and cuddled when we're free... i think she's starting to get bored, cuz she really looks like she wants to run around now!

				   | just got back from the vet and he said that she's healing really fast, says that she should be healed fully by 2 weeks... so instead of 8 weeks of recovery, it's only 4 weeks!!! wow, i'm so happy about that.. they said she can now walk around with no limited access, but to limit the jumping. thanks everyone for all your support!!!
