| Regarding Canidae! I took Blaze to the vet the other day just for a checkup and my reg vet was off so I saw one of the other vets which IMO is alittle pushy with her beliefs but whatever. So she asked me what I was feeding my dogs and I told her Canidae ALS and she said that I needed to take Blaze off of the Immediatly .....................I of course was surprised and her reason is that there is no dog food on this planet that is good for a puppy and an adult dog. Her comparision was "Would you give an adult baby formula, no so you can not give a puppy the same food as you can an adult dog." I told her that I did not really agree and would be doing my own research on this. I am wondering if anyone else knows of this? I plan to switch them back to Innova as soon as Blaze is alittle older because I find that both of their eyes are running on the Canidae but otherwise I thougth it was a great food. Some opinions would be really helpful! Thanks a bunch Amie

| mine used to be on canidae and they did really well and they were just puppies. i don't think there is anything wrong with feeding them since it is good for ALS. I know a lot of ppl on here feed their babies canidae as puppies and i know they do well. I sometimes think the vets want to put the pups on the brand that they make commission on so they just don't like anything other than the food they sell.

| Someone on YT had the same experience with their vet. I don't think I'd pay too much attention. If this vet is so smart then how does she know this is bad for Blaze and not for Autumn? Maybe it is better for puppies then adults. Has she researched the food? I also have seen where some people don't feed puppy food at all (not saying I recommend it).

| tumi and gracie were never on puppy food. my vet said it was okay since they were healthy kids. they were on canidae as puppies..did really really well. i just decided to switch to NV raw 4 months ago and they are doing really well on it also. I am so lucky since my vet is big on nutrition and she is also a holistic vet. All her own dogs are on raw also but she never pushed me. when i was ready to try raw, she just simply gave me all the info that i needed. she doesn't even carry Iams or SD at her office. only NV, wellness, and innova. i would say just stick with canidae as long as your babies are doing well and have no problems. mine are still consider puppies since tumi is 10 months and gracie will be 1yr next month.

| Not really sure. I think it has to do with body structure and it making them grow "leggy" or something.

| When I discussed changing lilys food with my vet she made it very clear that all stage foods are bad. But to each his own, I think if it works for you than great.

| I think what your vet said is nonsense! I have been using Canidae on and off for years. I use a holistic vet and that is what he sells, Canidae, Solid Gold and NV raw. I read an article a while back and it explained that dogs in the wild give their puppies whatever they eat.....they don't go out and order up a special food for the puppies they are weaning. The article explained that it was not necessary to feed puppy food. Not all puppy foods are the same. I think some have way to much protein for a small puppy. Canidae is balanced. I rotate between Canidae Holistic, Canidae Lamb and Rice, and Chicken Soup Puppy. Sometimes I throw in a little Solid Gold for variety. The main thing is to keep them on a quality dog food, avoid dog foods with corn and soy. I must also say that I add a little canned Pedigree Puppy Lamb and Rice to their food to give it a little extra flavor. |

| Are they afraid that puppy food has too much fat in it? or gain too much weight? *shrug* My boys are on Canidae, and they seem to be doing fine. I like it because its easily digestible.
