| My Lil Bit has a heart murmur My Lil Bit has a heart murmur and a blue cornea. Has anyone had any experience with either of these cnditions. The vet said the blue cornea could be caused by a scratch but he didn't see a scratch or anything. I think it was that way right from when his eyes opened. He said they will keep an eye on the heart murmur and it might require surgery. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | One of my rescue cats had a pretty bad murmur and the vet wanted to put her down at 4 mths old - he said she probably wouldn't live past 2 years old. WELL, she lived to be 15 years old - and never required any surgery or anything special. So, your baby may be just fine! The important thing to remember w/ murmurs is to attend quickly to anything that ever appears to get infected - as there is an increased vulnerability to infections causing unforeseen systemic issues (ie sepsis etc).

I had a litter of Cavaliers that we ran into heart conditions with two of the pups in my first litter. We went to the cardiologist and had her to listen to them, they were not innocent murmurs so we then did more testing echo/doppler and determined it was Pulmonic Stenosis. Where do you live? The Cardiologist I used was in Lexington KY. Deana Prestigeous Yorkies | |

| I don't know anything about those two conditions in dogs either. But I hope that your sweet Lil Bit will be just fine. Keep us informed.

| I'm sorry to hear this. Sometimes these things heal on their own, but I'm sure with your wonderful care and a great Vet. he will do just great. |

My son had a heart murmur and he is fine today 19 years later almost 20 years I will tell you with mine you could FEEL it if you held them and if you take a stethoscope and listen it sounds like a washer chugging (what mine has) Also I noticed mine was not wanting to nurse really well one I tube fed from 2 weeks of age. So that really was heartbreaking since I tube fed him and was already so attached and then to find out he was so sick. I could see bluing around his mouth too. But he will be celebrating his 2nd birthday in May and has had no medicine and no special diets but he is monitored and may have to go on meds later. I did loose his brother at 8 months but his diagnosis was grave from the beginning. One thing I learned was some Vet schools will allow you to try to save them by surgery without explaining that you have a size issue, my pups at 20 ounces they vets were willing to try to do surgery, but I knew that the size limitation was an issue, had I not known that I would have been paying a very high price for them to basically be put down. the UT vet school was the only one that told me if they didn't get to be at least 8 lbs don't do surgery for Pulmonic Stenosis it will just kill them. | One of my babies had a slight murmur at her 6 week appointment. By 9 weeks it was almost gone and 12 there was no sign of it. From what I was told she just developed a little slower and its halfway common in young puppies and almost always goes away. The lady that bought the puppy has not had any problems at all with her. |
