Someone got him before me but a few years ago I was going to adopt a yorkie that was blind so I had started to read up on it. Like the others have said, blind dogs do very well once they adjust.

Let me say this though, I am very optimistic in the sense that it is only vision. In the scheme of life it could be a lot worse and we will do what we need to do the adjust but she is only 5 and this is really hard for me.

That sweet baby - you must be worried sick...You're doing so good trying to be strong but I'd be in tears too - I know there's worse things that happen but just thinking of those beautiful big eyes having no sight makes me sad too

Did they say why this could be happening ???? (sorry - didn't read all the replies yet)

ohhh poor Hallie!!!! I hope the doctors can help here, praying for that!!!!!! I know this must be hard for you, but even if you're not religious, trust in the power of prayer!

Awww Kim,

I'm sorry about Hallie. I pray that she will be okay. But you are right, in the grand scheme of things there are so many much worse things than blindness, and you would be surprised at how well dogs can get around without sight. My step-grandmother's poodle had blindness from cataracts, and she walked around that house very well. I think they can smell their way around.

Give that baby girl a big squeeze
