In a way, I know what you are going thru. My shetland, Lassie, is going blind in old age and deaf. She is 12. She tries to bite if she gets startled. Not her fault. All we can do is just love them and care for them the best we can.

I've been reading about Simon and Hallie for almost two years now here on YT and they both seem to be such special pups -- so full of life. Though I know the news about Hallie has to be heartbreaking, she has a very special mom (and fur-brother!) to help her adjust. Best of luck to her, I know things will turn out OK. Good luck to you, too.

Kimberly, I am so sorry to hear about little Hallie

Let me tell you though, I had a Cocker Spaniel whom we had for over 11 years (we lost her last January due to Cancer - mommy loves you baby girl

) as she too was almost totally blind....but ya know what, you'd never even know it! She got around great and did perfectly fine. The poor baby was also totally deaf....boy did she manage though - she did GREAT. You'd never know that anything was wrong with her (other than her arthritis). And you are 100% correct - there are things that are much worse than Hallie's condition, so just be glad that it isn't anything TOTALLY serious (meaning life threatening) - although I know it is still very upsetting for you because she is your baby

I will be saying many, many prayers for that sweet darling. She (and you) are in my thoughts
