| Oh Laura, I am so sorry your little baby isn't feeling well. My son takes both of his dogs to allergists and they are on medication but really I don't see any difference in their itching. My last dog was a cocker and he itched his whole life but he didn't have swollen glands. Instead of a gland could it be where they either gave him a shot or took blood? You both will be in my prayers.

| How is his energy level? Is he showing any fatigue? Alot of times glands on the throat will swell as a sign of detoxing. Bruising or discolor is a sign of detoxing as well. If you are open to it, maybe get a second opinion from another practitioner. Kai and I send our prayers. Keep thinking positive and things will get better soon! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, Laura and Reese, my heart goes out to you - how scary! So, I assume she did check her WBC count when she did the blood work, right? If that was normal, at least you can take some ease knowing that it isn't lymphoma or a major infection of some kind. It is also positive that none of her other lymph sites are swollen. Given how the glands swelled FOLLOWING the new supplements/meds (I have the chain of events right, don't I?), it could very likely be a reaction to something. Chinese herbs, if given correctly, can actually cause some strong reactions in the beginning - as they do their "work". So, it may be a positve sign of some type of detox going on. On the down side, she may be allergic to something in the meds, so it could be an allergic reaction as well. Time will tell. Hang in there. I guess just make sure her appetite and water drinking is good - and as long as her behavior is "normal" for her etc. - just give it a bit of time. Poor honey, send her our kisses!

| Thyroid?? Is it possible that the itchy skin and the swollen glands are related to thyroid disfunction rather than allergies? Maybe it is not the medicene or blood draw at all, but another symptom that goes along with the original problem? Has your baby been checked for thyroid disfunction? |

| Thank you for your support everyone. I am actually taking Reese to a different vet Tuesday morning. I have heard wonderful things about them and know that they will be much more thorough...the holistic vet that I was taking her to did no tests at all except for Lyme...I am hoping that it is her body detoxing, but I just need to be sure to give myself piece of mind, so I am going to tell them to test whatever they have to in order to make sure she is ok. I have been making myself sick over this. I love this dog so much and just don't know what I will do if anything happens to her. So keep positive thoughts and prayers and I will let you all know as soon as I hear....fingers crossed!!!

| in our prayers I will be praying for her too. good luck on tuesday. In the AKC magazine this month there was an article on massage of your furbabies. I have been doing this and my babies coats seem shinner and they seem so happy having this done. I pat them all the time anyway but this is just one step farther it might help. If just to make you feel less stressful and her too. Just a thought. |

| So I actually got her into the vet today and I feel so much better. She did a very thorough exam and talked to me for about 45 minutes about what she thinks is going on with Reese. She said that Reese's glands are mildly swollen, and only in her throat...all others are fine (thank god)...but you know when you feel something foreign on your baby it feels IMMENSE!! So she went over with me how I am switching her to a more holistic diet and trying different herbs and such with her to help her allergies and that her body is going to take some time to detoxify and cleanse itself as opposed to if I just did steroids which would work quickly, but damage her in the long run because she is so young... I could go on forever because she gave me a lot of helpful info. but the most important thing is that I feel I can sleep a little easier tonight...we have an appointment in 2 weeks as a check up to see how she is doing...I will keep you all posted....I can't tell you enough how much I value this forum..You are all so wonderful, and your words mean more than you know...Thank you again xoxo
