| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh Lauren! I'm just seeing this now, I'm so sorry I didn't post earlier. How is the little baby? Well, if her blood sugar is high - amylase would naturally be higher too bc amylase is the enzyme that uptakes sugar. Her labs could be off simply from having such a bad episode of nauseousness - that can throw electrolytes off. I wonder if she got into something outside - my guys have before and it's SO scary not knowing what's going on. I always try to feed extra water, get some rice or potato in them asap, give nutrical, check gums - you could even give a bit of pepto if she is still nauseous. I'm not too surprised by the shaking - vomiting can pretty violent and scary for these little babies. I DO hope she is feeling better!

Are you saying the the high blood sugar would cause the AMY levels to test higher?? I know so little about these conditions, it's so frustrating. I just spoke to Hubby Jack. He gave her about 8 Honey Nut Cheerios this morning (argh!), whereas I would normally only give her 1 or 2 as a treat. Could this have elevated the glucose so much?? Could the vomiting, as you say, have caused both the bad test results? I am just worried sick now about something genetic. ![]() ![]() Lauren

| Lauren, I know you are worried sick. I am not experienced with test results. You might want to ask in the Sick/Emergency section. People might be able to help you there as well, as Wiley's Mom has.... Hugs to you, and kisses to Mango! Janell

Yes, AMY levels would go along w/ sugars. Like, if you put a piece of candy (or any sugar/carb) in your mouth, the pancreas is stimulated to release amylase to begin sugar/glucose digestion - so they are intimately tied together. It could be just from her system being thrown into vomiting - as in, perhaps she was so dehydrated that her blood became "concentrated" rather than "dilute" - so her sugars are "up". But I can't say for sure - it's so hard to know. It would be nice if they tested again to see how the level is now and then again after eating (so, fasting and eating) - have they done that? Try not to worry too much, hun, but I know how hard that is! It could really just be an isolated, but scary, incident. Keep us posted!!!! HUGS!

You're probably right. I posted here because I thought more members would see it, and the more that could give some answers. Still waiting on the call from the Vet. I so appreciate your concern. Lauren

| I want you all to know how much I treasure you. I knew this morning when Mango first showed symptoms, that the best support I could possibly get, would come from y'all here at YT. I SO APPRECIATE all the concern and support from each and every one of you. Thank you! Big hug to all, Lauren

I know too well how frustrating and aggravating in can be waiting on those test results. When I had Chloe's bile acid tests done, I called in every half-hour to get the results. How is Mango doing now. Is she still vomiting, or has she eaten and seemed better for the time being? | |

| Is your vet going to run tests on the pancreas and glucose levels again to see If it was just a high reading because of the vomiting. I am keeping your little Mango in my thoughts and prayers
