It's b/c of people like you and your neighbor that my female has Trachea Collapse, Severe Allergies and most likely dental disease. It's b/c of people like you and your neighbor that my male has IBD, roach back and is missing most of his adult teeth, b/c they just never formed from his jaw bone. It's b/c of people like you and your neighbor that we have spent nearly $8000 in Vet bills already and they aren't even 3 years old. It's b/c of people like you and your neighbor that I sit and cry after I read all the petfinder listing of those abandoned/surrendered Yorkies b/c of health issues b/c of irresponsible breeders.

SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR NEIGHBOR.

Sounds like YOU and YOUR NEIGHBOR just want to make a quick buck at BOTH of your Yorkies expenses and possibly from the people who purchase from you.

Now, that's all I am going to say on this matter. I will be praying that the female does fine through this whole process. I hope you realize a lot things as well as a result of this and better think your actions through.

Let me tell you something... ITS NOT my fault or b/c of us that your dog has this problem. Have you not looked into all the regular things that happen to yorkies?
Trachea Collapse is normal for majority of yorkies, both my males have it. Its because they are too small... if you were sooo responsible you would have checked up on the dogs pedigree first & asked for the dogs parents certified information, that is not b/c of people like me, that is YOUR PROBLEM. You should have looked more into this! So dont go around blaming people b/c you have a sick dog. Both of our dogs are in great health & I dont need to certify him for anything. She is as well a wonderful female. You guys are bashing really hard. I dont know where you got the impression that i tried to seperate them.. I know better than that. What i was looking at wasnt a pretty sight, & the 1st time that it happened i did try to assist them but she was crying too much & i left them alone. The owner of the female has bred dogs previously & she was able to explain somt things to me.. as well as a breeder friend. She gave me basic instructions but nothing to this intend. I will not be responding again b/c this is ridiculous... im not trying to hurt my boy or make a quick buck off of them... we do love our dogs but like i said we are inexperienced & I didnt know how hard it is, i have now learned & i am now ready to take the next challenge to see her deliever her precious babies. & How dare you come along & say you hope shes not pregnancy & to spay her... that not your right!!!!! You women are cruel... & ive had enough. im trying to learn & stuff but it doesnt mean that you should come & bash me for it like if im some sort of puppy mill abuser. B/c thats what you guys have made me feel like!

You are absolutely right - I did not do my homework when I purchased my dogs, I have admitted that numerous this past 2.5 years. And as a results, I have spent the last 2.5 years learning and researching and educating others every day.

I never blamed you for my dogs issues. However, your and your neighbors actions in your current situation is how all of these genetic defects keep on coming about.

Trachea Collapse is a Genetic Defect, it is not 'just because they are small dogs'.

You started this thread in a rant of your lack of experience and it sounded like you were doing this for the 'heck' of and with the 'oh well' attitude.

Best of Luck to the Female.

It is because of people like YOU that these poor dogs resulting from ill breeding by unethical breeders will be able to live the spoiled life they deserve and get the care they need. Your fur babies are LUCKY to have found someone who loves and cares for what is best for them--these type 'breeders' obviously don't.

I am saddened by the lack of concern for what is best for these dogs that has been indicatd in this thread. It never ceases to amaze me that people join here in a panick, ask for advice, and then are upset when they get honest answers from experienced, concerned Yorkie enthusiasts and breeders. I will never understand the 'their my dogs, I'll do what I want with them' attempt at justification for these types of actions.

Umm, no, it isn't normal for the majority of yorkies. The fact that your male has it was your first sign not to breed him. I do not breed and am far from an expert but it is really concerning that you allowed your dog to be dragged around- TWICE. That just seems like a common sense issue to me. I know you are getting defensive but the best chance this poor little girl has is for you to suck up your pride and hope to God that the very knowledgable breeders on this board will walk you through this.

The whole change in personality that you guys described has been him all his life, Hes marked around the house b/c theres another male in the house & hes humped toys or his bed.. bc thats just him. I have never seen one ounce of aggressiveness come from this dog, he is the absolute sweetest. I would have loved to have him as a stud a long time ago & let him be sexually active, but I guess its harder than you think to find females to mate with a male. It took 4 yrs for me to find the right female. I had turned down 3 females, b/c the owner(s) had "teacups" & I said no... I wouldnt allow Scoobie to breed with such a small dog, & all for the health reasons I have read. Scoobie himself is small, hes supose to weigh about 4lbs, but hes pure muscle, strong lil man. So he weighs about 5.5lbs as of a month ago. If you wanna have more of an idea... pass by his dogster. The female is bigger than him & she weighs about 7lbs. She is going to be 3 in Jan. I did go to that website where one of you posted. Interesting & thank you. Tonight... they did tie, & my husband & I were watching & were able to keep them calm until they unattached. The mother should be on her 62nd day by the 1st of jan, the owner will be out of town & bc her dog trusts me & is comfortable with me, I will be with her during that time. She will have the $$ left with me, if in case we have to have a c-section & then the cut of the puppies tails. I dont want to offend anyone but most of you are making it seem so much worse than what it really is. Its dogs, its nature... how many dogs go through this w/o loving homes that take care of them. Unfortunately... I didnt think it was like this, I knew they attached "tied" but didnt know this is what it looked like, I wasnt prepared. I am glad i came along & asked here & got all the help i did. THANK YOU! But none of you have the right to tell me I hope she's not pregnant, if she is well something right they did. Now I will be reading up on the information on the pregnancy & the labor & trust me i'll be prepared. Thanks all. This is my final message to everyone, b/c most of you hurt my feelings pretty bad, & i dont think thats right! Hope your all happy with this response!
I can't believe someone would allow their female to get pregnant and then leave town during the due date. You really do look at them as "just dogs"
There is no way I would be anywhere else at that time, NO WAY!
Sad.

So you are going to contribute to the problems by breeding a dog that has a genetic defect???

This right here shows that you DID try to separate them....

The things that are coming out do NOT make any sense to me....

These fine ladies are not trying to be mean or hateful, but it sounds like you are wanting to get into breeding and have no prior experience.... Hence the reason you are getting all of these replies. They don't want a dog that has a collapsed trachea, like you have stated, throwing pups that are genetically disposed to that problem. Why add to a problem, instead, get a sound male and a sound female to mate. Contribute to bettering the breed. That is ALL they are trying to get across to you.

So he DOES have a genetic problem (collapsed trachea) and you're breeding him??? I've talked to two people recently whose yorkies died between 3-5years of age because they inherited this defect. Yes, it is people like YOU who are at fault for genetic illnesses in our yorkies. My yorkie also has LP because of bad breeding. No, you didn't contribute to HER LP, but you are continueing to contribute to badly-bred yorkies! You know, the ONLY reason all these problems are common in our yorkies is because people like YOU keep breeding dogs that do not meet the standard and carry genes for these problems. Reputable breeders health check, genetic test all their dogs and never breed one that might pass on a defect. I REALLY hope that poor female isn't pregnant...if you don't even know how dogs breed you probably know nothing about them giving birth. And that poor girl will be left in your care. What if she dies? What if her owner decides to hold you responsible if it happens? I mean, your dog bred her, you were the one there when the breeding took place, and you will be there when she gives birth - so YOU could be blamed if something goes wrong....could end up in a big mess. Poor dogs... and thank you again for contributing to the breeding of dogs that dont need to be bred
