| Can someone explain the blades on a clipper? My goomer said not to use any less than a #7 on Buddy's back. Reading about grooming tells you different #'s to use on what, however, my clipper, Andis, does not have different blades but adjusts to different heights with no indication as to what they are. There are also several different combs that do have different sizes on them. I am at a total loss on how to use these. Do certain clippers come with different blades? I just paid $60.00 for this clipper but don't understand how to use it properly. Did I buy the wrong clippers? I need help in this area. I ordered a dvd on grooming but I know it is going to talk about blade sizes. Anyone have an Andis? Can you help me? |

| Did you get a dog grooming clipper or a people grooming clipper? I have an Oster A5 (I think is the model #) which is similar to the Andis dog clipper. The whole clipping blade head comes off and you can buy different blades for different lengths. The higher the number the shorter the cut. These are not combs, though you can attach the combs to the blades if you want, but with yorkie hair it doesn't stand up so they don't work so well unless you have a Vac-U-Groomer or something similar.

did not say the blade can be changed! That would make sense if it can be. There were no directions as to the blade adjustments either. Therefore I am in the dark.

What is the model number? The ones with changeable blades have a little lever near the blade that when you push it the head (blade) flips out and you can pull it off. If yours is not like this it probably doesn't have the capability of changing blades. Most professional dog grooming clippers are around $100 and up.

| What type of cut are you wanting for your Yorkie? If you just let the hair grow, all you need is a good pair of scissors and a beard and mustach trimmer. If you want a puppy cut, you can still do that with scissors. If you want a really close cut on the body then use a # 4 blade. I have the Andis 2 speed that's really quiet. I've been useing the #4 blade on Azrael, but am just now letting it grow. |

bought the best one there, at the time. If that's the case I am going to do some research on them and buy another with changable blades! I want to do the best I can on him since he will no longer go to the groomer's. No wonder there is no blade #'s on it! Dosen't pay to hurry when you don't know what your doing! Thanks so much Little Bit. That was extremely helpfull.

| I have an Andis too and to change the blade you need a screwdriver. It doesn't flip off like the Wahl Peanut or others. I didn't know which blades were which either ( still don't all the way) but I bought a few different ones that seem to be working fine. |
