| Do yorkies molt?? Hi, I gave my 10 year old yorkie, Rocky, a bath yesterday. I started seeing tufts of hair lying around and have found that I can just pull tufts of hair off of his body. I clipped him short for the summer. This is more than just a little shedding - this is tufts of hair. Is this normal or is this a sign of something wrong? I've never seen this before. Any information would be appreciated. He ususally has a much longer coat and when I comb him never see anything like this. Thanks.. Erika |

| I'd say you need to get him to the vet. That doesn't sound normal.

| I agree, definitely worth a vet trip. ...... I am not sure about the symptoms with yorkies, but with people, hair loss can be caused by thyroid problems.

| Can yorkies molt? Thank you. His thyroid was checked in April and it was normal. This is only black tufts coming out towards the undercoat at the rear of his body. No bald spots or hair loss anywhere else. It appears almost to be an undercoat. His hair is not thinning. Erika |
