2 questions...

Piper & Penny have their ears done at the groomers, but I haven't heard of the vaseline trick. I think it would work though.

I have never done this myself, and honestly didnt' know anything about it until the post the other day here about the anal glands video....I went to that link and there's several short videos on grooming...all aspects and this was one of them....you can go check it out here

wouldn't dropping oil or putting vaseline in their eyes hurt too? how would it go away once you're done?

Mineral oil is best, just a drop in each eye and no it doesn't hurt, it protects. Vaseline isn't pure and can cause infection.

Hemostats work a lot better for removing hair from the ear canals. It's not easy and may require someone holding your baby while you work.
I always do it before a bath. Then when bath is done I use a ear cleaner with a drying agent to assist in closing the pores.

What ear cleaner do you use?? Mine tends to make the hair around her ears oily looking, so I use it before the bath.

I wouldn't. When I take Mia I make sure they understand that I will be there for and during the appointment. If they don't want your business they will tell you. Otherwise, I feel it is my job to protect my babies and I've never left a child to get their haircut and won't do it to them. The actual hair plucking does not take that long.

Connie, If Max takes after his dad, and I've groomed Cash alot, he stayed at my house while he was being shown, Max won't have the hair in the ear canal issue at all.

This is how my groomer does it and she's been doing it for 45+ years.

I groom, but not as long as your groomer. It's just the easiest and safest way for me to do it. Pluck, trim ears, bathe, clean ears out with a ear cleaner with drying agent....
