2 questions... 1. I have heard that you should put vaseline on your yorkies eyes when bathing to prevent anything from irritating them. is this true? does it really help? 2. what is the secret to getting the hair out of the ears? i have tried tweezing them but it would take forever to get all of the hair out of there and she just won't have it. I have tried twirling a q-tip to twist the hair around it and then pull but her hair will not twirl around the q-tip. is there an easier way? thanks!!!! i'm still learning :) |

I've not heard the vaseline trick, so I don't know if it will work or not. As far as pulling the hair from the ears, you can buy the scissor things that will pull the hair out, but an ear powder should be used. I don't pull mine very often. I only pull it when it looks like it is full of hair, I don't want them getting any kind of ear infection. Some here don't pull the ear hair at all. I think it depends on the dog. |

I haven't heard of using Vaseline but I used to use a drop of Mineral Oil from an eye dropper before a bath...it works great and doesn't gunk up in the eyes. The groomer showed my husband how to remove the hair from the ears...he just uses his figertips to pull it out and he has no trouble with either of them. |
Sorry, I am not much help. I have not heard of the Vaseline trick. I take Roxie to the groomer and she removes the hair from Roxie's ears. I was lucky enough to find a fantastic groomer in my area that specializes in small dogs. Good Luck, I am sure someone on here will be able to answer your questions. |
A drop of mineral oil into the eye works better. Hemostats work a lot better for removing hair from the ear canals. It's not easy and may require someone holding your baby while you work. I always do it before a bath. Then when bath is done I use a ear cleaner with a drying agent to assist in closing the pores. |

A groomer once told me to put a little ear powder in the ear so your fingers don't slide off the hair and pull it out with your fingers. I have found that it seems to be easier if you turn your fingers as you pull the hair out rather than pull it straight out. |

Im scared :eek: Doesnt pulling the hair out of ears hurt?? Is it always necessary to have this done I have never noticed a problem nor had my vet with either babies ears...Is this something that the problems show later in life?? |
