| Have you all heard, that if you give them distilled water, they won't stain? Don't really know how true it is...but Winston has always drank distilled water...and he has no stains. But it could just be his darker coloring or maybe his coat, or maybe my groomer has a trick that I don't know about...maybe I will ask her...hmmmm???

| Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I use a mascara brush/comb that I buy from Sally's. I've trained them to let's get the buggers and they let me. |

| I totally agree with no scissors near the eyes. I was so upset when I took Jack to a new groomer, " we moved to a new town" and saw upon picking him up, she shaved and cut around his eye area. I was pissed. I asked her, did I ask you for this? She said no but I do this to all toy dogs. What a nightmare we went through while the hair was growing back. Poor thing had so many eye boggies from the hair irritating his pretty brown eyes. Needless to say, I never returned to that groomer. I specified what I wanted done when I dropped him off, but like most hair stylist, she did what she wanted... |

| I use these q-tip things I got at Complete Petmart they have some type of clear liquid in them you snap one end of the tip and the liquid goes to the other end and works really well to get the eye goop off. When i'm finished I just wash the debris away with a warm wash cloth. I forget what they are called, sometime tear stain remover or something along those lines. |

| I use either a warm wash cloth or a fine toothed comb (like a flea comb). Also, I just started washing their head and faces with Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo. It's completely tearless so I can get close to their eyes, and they smell good and feel really clean all over their little faces.

| I heard Aveeno works nice. My sister uses that for her Chihuahua's face. I am going to try it. How much should I use on a warm face cloth. Should I dilute it in some water first? Kat |

| Therapy Dog Donating Member | Bought a good mascara comb/brush combo - and also use the words "let's get the buggers out" and she let's me. I also dampen with warm Q-tip or wash cloth to soften the gooks then comb out.

| My vet recommended using distilled water to clean Jake's eyes with and also for him to drink. His eyes rarely get gunky anymore.

| -I have been using these pre-moistened pads that are for removing eye boogers i got them at petco.. and they seem to work well. It softens the eye gunk and it slides off easily.. i also comb out any excess that's left.-Has anyone ever used that Angel Eye stuff?? I have seen it multiple times, mostly in pet boutiques or on the internet?? but i have never talked to anyone that actually uses it.. there is some you sprinkle on their food and then also a topical kind that probably softens the gunk as well.. just curious??

| Max's vet said they're probably from allergies because they got much worse in the summer and to just use water and a paper towel. The Vet Tech also told me to dry the hair around his eyes after so that new bacteria doesn't move in. If it doesn't improve in the fall, I'm going to push my vet to check him out better.
