That is a BRILLIANT IDEA!! I just spent $65.00 on a cordless Andis, but the Men's mustache trimmer would have been much better. I might just go ahead a get one of those as ell.

What ever you get remember Cordless is the way to go

hey Chrissy!

Do you think these clippers would be good on morgan's cotton coat? Or can you maybe suggest something alittle cheaper? i just want to keep her in a puppy cut from now on because her coat is ridiculous. what blade should i use to cut her down?

Conner has a cottony coat also. I am thinking about clipping him myself - only because he got cut really, really short the last time I took him to the groomer. Can't post pictures until the hair grows out a little.

The mens mustach clipper is nice but doesn't hold the blade sharpness or doesn't do the precision/sharp needed for ears.

I may have to look into one of them. I'm constantly cooling down the Andis too, so I don't think there would be much difference there. I'd love to have one of those jobbers that are vacume clippers...but, very pricey. YTCA was raffling off one of them a year or so ago. I'd have loved to have won it.

Can you take some pictures sometime of how you clip the hair around the anus and around the toes. I'd also like to see how to do the ears. I've never done it before, so I'll be a little nervous.

Or if you would allow me to come over sometime to watch when you groom yours...

I never clip around the anus....I use baby manicure scissors to clip. Now keep in mind, since my dogs are show dogs, I've learned to just go around the anus, taking just enough hair to be sanitary. I don't clip around the toes, only use clippers on the foot pads, if you purchased the Peanut, believe me they are completely safe. Now if you mean making the rounded foot. Here's the way I learned, but I started when they were very young puppies, when they were very, very sleepy and tired, I'd turn them on their backs, gently comb the hair up towards the foot and with manicure scissors, I'd just trim in a circle. Just remember be kind to yourself, you are going to screw up, but the hair grows back, very, very quickly. So just keep on practicing.

I wouldnt buy these if you plan on just grooming Morgan. I would go with the andis clippers. As far as blade size it all depends on how short or long you want to keep her. I know your familar with Diamond shes silky coated but I use a 3f on her back and then I sicssor her legs and skirt short then trip up her face, now Romeo.. Bern likes to keep him shorter and I use a 5f on him. Shame you dont live closer so I could give you hands on tips

Those clipper Vacs are pretty cool. I tried out at a grooming shop several years back and they made me use it the day I tried out there and it was bulky, i was also uncomfortable because I had to use their clippers because I didnt have the attachement for the vac on my clippers. It was neat that there was little to no hair cleanup but I just didnt like it. I remember when YTCA was raffling that off too.
Now a kennel I groomed at a while back had the clipper vac and know what we did with it there (the owner lived far away from the kennel to not inforce the shop rules lol) we used it to suck up the hair on our tables so we didnt have to lug the vacuum over to clean it up lol
The newer clipper vac models are supposed to be lighter and more user friendly. I know a grooming chat group I belong to is talking about the Laube Ivac and shes having nothing but trouble with the thing

yeah i wish i lived closer to all you guys. I'm gonna keep morgan shorter like Romeo. its just easier i think. I figure buying a good set of clippers, whatever brand they are, is cheaper in the long run then paying $50 a pop at the groomer every month or so.

I would really like to learn how to groom Peanut. The last time at the groomers he came home with fleas. I never had a problem with fleas, was treating him the natural way with lavender. I finally put him on frontline, but I refuse to have him go back and have fleas again.
