Clipper recommendation
 
I already do Chloe's baths anyway, so I've decided I'd like to just do the whole grooming job myself.

Anyway, right now, we're not trimming her hair. I just need a clipper to trim the hair on her toes, around her butt, and on the tips of her ears. Can anyone recommend a good, reasonable, easy to handle clipper?

Hey. I got this GREAT clipper at WalMart it is a Wahl and cost 10 bucks.. i use it for her feet and ears and face.. i use a bigger Andis for the rest of her body.

As you know I show and groom. The best clipper is a Whal Peanut, purchased at Sally's. It's wonderful for doing a very clean ear trim and foot pads. I use manicure scissors for trimming the hair around their little anus.

It looks small and easy to handle. :thumbup: I have a conair clipper that I used to trim the kids' hair with, but it is large and bulky. I would not want to go at it on the dog with that one.

I use the Wahl trimmer from Wal Mart. The one I have has a reverserable head. One side is probably no wider than 1/2 inch the other side is about 1 inch. I really like that it trims close and doesn't knick.

Just buy the mens beard and mustache clipper. It's small enexpensive and does the trick nicely..........just ask me!! :D

Misty, Mary had me get this one and I can tell you, it's great. It's small and so easy to use on those little ears and feet.

I've tried them all, the Peanut was recommended to me by my mentor, breeding and showing since 1972. I groom as a business, there is nothing better for putting that nice clean edge on a show ear. I begin using it on my puppies before they even open their eyes.

I love the look of a clean edge on a ear. I use a 40 blade on my ears and pads. But the wahl peanut works great too. Im just accustomed to using a 40 blade on my Laube clippers (expensive clippers but worth it)

Never used or seen the Laube clippers. The Peanut has a 30 and what I love about it is that it's real safe. For cutdowns I use an Andis with a 7F blade and start at the base of the tail and go towards the neck. It gives such a great velour cut without the track marks. I use the peanut for getting in those tight places on these yorkies.

Also, use it for trimming my dam's tummies, just before whelping

Thanks for all the tips. I went ahead and ordered the Peanut from a different person at ebay. The best price I found was $29.99 + $3 shipping Wahl Peanut at ebay. I called Sally, and it was $52 there, so this is a pretty good price!

Which andis clippers do you use? i've been looking to purchase a good clipper so that i can just groom morgan myself instead of spending $50 a month to have someone else do it.

any good way to get a dog used to the noise they make and not to run away? ;) I'm slowly getting Bella used to the blowdryer (she still tries to run some and sometimes growls at it) I turned on the clippers one day (I just wanted to trim her feet) and she didn't like the sound of it at all.

The Laube clippers move much faster then the andis and is great on those thick coats that the andis just doesnt move as fast though. The downside is the blades heat up quickly so Im constantly cooling them.
