| Oily head, Oily head, na ni na ni na! My puppy is an oily head! We try not to bathe too often but her head gets so oily, she is getting ear drops and this might be part of the culprit but it is all over her face and head, her body is fine. Any ideas? |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | It definitely sounds like it's from the ear medicine. You can always put a bit of baby powder on your hand...not too much as to get it in her face or eyes and then carefully rub it on the oily hair. It will soak up the oil and reduce the sheen.

| Its the ear medicine. When Chachi had an ear infectionn he had medicine and it made his hair greasy. The babypowder idea sounds like a good one

| Oh yeah---we are going through the same thing. Milo has silver grey at his roots and so he's starting to look like the scary army guy from the remake of Planet of the Apes! I was wondering about putting cotton in his ears-- that's okay when bathing? |

| You can also put some cotton in his ears for a while after you apply the ear drops so when he shakes his head the medicine doesn't spread around on his fur. If his ears are pretty small break the cotton ball in half so it can tuck down in there and he can't shake it out too easily.

| Please don't put cotton in the ears when you shampoo a dog. The cotton will quickly absorb water and drain in the ears. After a shampoo just put the drops that dry the ears, hold the ear closed, rub in circles then take a cotton ball and wip out. You don't need dawn to wash that ear oil off the hair. It isn't like grease. It washes right out even if you just use a wash cloth with just a smidgen of diluted doggie shampoo. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | The baby powder trick was one that I found in a pregnancy book. It was for some women that suffer from super oily hair when they are pregnant and have to wash their hair too much.
