| Grooming...When? I'm not sure when I should start taking Buddah to the groomers. I give him a bath and brush him myself all the time, but his hair is getting long on the top of his head and getting really floppy. I've only had him for a month and a half and he is only 4 months old. When did you start getting your baby a hair cut? Also how long did it take for your yorkie to grow the hair out? do they have to be an adult for it to look like that? |

| If you will be having your baby professionally groomed than the sooner the better. Many people never go to a groomer and are fine but if your dog will eventually be going it's best to get him accustomed to it ASAP. Even if you don't need a haircut yet, he could just go in for sanitary and nail trimming. Lots of people put it off until they realize that their little one is matted to the skin and the first professional grooming ends up being a negative experience for both the dog and owner (and the groomer, too). I think I cut Brandy's hair the first time about 7 or 8 months. I've never let her hair get longer than maybe 3 inches. She's kinda wavy so she just seems to get bushy and messy looking so no drop coat for her. I got Titan at 9 months old and he already had straight long hair (maybe 6-7 inches) and I've never cut his hair other than sanitary areas, around feet, and just tidy up the ends a bit. How long you wait before cutting hair may depend on your dogs coat. Just don't wait if you find he is getting matted.

No Longer a Member | One of my best friends is my groomer, and I had Chloe started at 12 weeks. She has been going every month since then. She'll be going to her 3 grooming tomorrow, and she's just now 5 months. I'm excited about this one. I'm going to have all the black cut off! Her colors are really starting to come through. I can't wait to see her with her new colors! |
