| We found a groomer who is supposed to be "the best" there is ... had to wait 3 months for our first appointment. I was "mildly" pleased ... Toto smelled good the first day but I found myself bathing her again two days later! We can't stand for her to smell "doggy"! After that, with the exception of trimmed nails, trimmed ears and straight hair, we kinda knew what to expect each time. Toto had never had a short haircut so last month I decided to have her a puppy cut, except for her topknot and face. I guess I was expecting too much "perfection" ... her hair was soooo gapped ... it was cute because it was short and we loved it short but we didn't like the quality of the cut! She has a "standing appointment" once a month. Also, I took her to our AL vet yesterday to visit and pick up a flight certificate for the trip back to CO and Dr. Lucy had a "hissy fit" about her ears!! I am not an ear expert so I thought the groomer had been plucking them properly ... she had not! So ..... "if you want something done right, do it yourself" has become my motto! I am going to learn and from now on I will "do it myself"!!

| Edie gets a puppy cut. I specifically ask for a "sanitary trim" (you can guess what that is) and I make sure they DO NOT cut the hair close to the corners of her eyes. It needs to say long so that it does not spike up into her eyes. |

| We take ours every three to four months. We get a puppy cut for Chachi. Jewels we let her hair grow out so we just have them even it out.

| I groom every six weeks with trims in between if Bailey needs them. I bathe him once a week tho.

| At what age should i start getting my yorkie groomed. He is just over 4 months old right now and of course still has has short hair but i have noticed he is starting to get long hair over his brows where i can barely see his eyes anymore. I do not want to tie it up since he is a boy and that would look girly. I thought about trimming myself but i am scared to do so. I would like to keep him in a puppy cut but I am assuming he needs a kennel cough shot before i can take him to get groomed, right? Also Alison had mentioned not to cut the hair around their eyes - opps - i already have done that. Is that really that bad to do? The hair was getting in his eyes so i thought it would be best to trim it. Yikes - hope i have not messed him up too much?

| I do Twinkie myself, so she gets done whenever she starts to look a little sloppy. Probably every 1.5 months, but I'm letting her hair grow out, so just her tummy, bum, sanitary, ears & paw pads.

| i have taken edgar to be groomed 3 times. he is 1yr now. the first i got a puppy cut and it was so cute, but he was a puppy and all his black hair disappeared! i was really sad--thought he'd be black forever honestly. (had no idea they changed color before that) then i got him a short body allover and fluffy head. i liked that one alot. then i got a schnauzer cut with just the baggy legs and a schnauzer head. that was ok, but my husband said he looked like captain ahab. i didn't really like the face cut. and they shaved too close and he scratched himself into an infection. i would like to cut him myself and thanks for the advice about the corners of the eyes. they did that the first time i had him groomed and thought it was standard, so i trim them myself. NO morE! |
