| Lets talk about Conditioners.... I have a yorkie who tangles easy and he has greasy hair. I am looking for a good conditioner for him. What kinds of conditioners does everyone use?? Also...I used to use a conditioner at a kennel i worked at a few years ago. It was blue and thick like butter and it was in a white container with a screw top that almost looked like the kind of container that would contain salve or face cream. I am wondering anyone knows what the name of the conditioner is?!? It worked wonderful on the Newfoundlands I used to groom...and I can't remember the name and I haven't been able to find it. Lastly...has anyone tried Paul Mitchell's line of dog shampoo's/conditioners?? If so, what's your opinion on them?? |

| If he's greasy using no conditioner, I'd have the vet look at him. Some types of skin problems can cause this.

| I haven't tried Paul Mitchell. But they have a spray-in conditioner that I eye everytime I go to Petco. It smells like almonds I have a Morkie who tangles easily, especially around her legs. Her hair texture isn't cotton, but it isn't silky either. It's almost coarse. I've been using #1 All Systems Super Rich Protein Lotion Conditioner on her & it's been working really well. Amazon.com: #1 All Systems Super-Rich Protein... It's not a miracle, but it definitely helps with keeping her coat moisturized & she's less prone to tangles now. I also brush her legs a few times during the day so I can catch any tangles quickly, before they mat. I also like the IOD Silky Coating Brush Spray...Amazon.com: Everyday Isle of Dogs Silky Coating... I used Pet Silk shampoo & conditioner for the first time on her yesterday. That stuff seems to be working pretty well too. The Silk Sheen works well on my silky coated Yorkies because it makes the coat a little slippery so that tangles don't have a chance to form. Pet Silk - Pet Grooming Products, Shampoos, Conditioners, Colognes Do you have a Madan brush? If not, that's a MUST. They're excellent for brushing & glide through tangles. Mimimomo sells them in her shop. You want the small, medium/firm cushion. toplinepet.com I'm a total product junkie. I hope that helps a little.

| I use the Frederic Fekkai Essential Shea Ultra Rich Mask on Logan. It's meant for humans, but it works REALLY well on Yorkie hair. We switched to a new groomer recently, and when she met Logan she told me his fur is in the best condition of any dog she has ever groomed. I pay $30 for it at Lord & Taylor, but it's worth it. I've been using the same tube for a year and a half now... but I only bathe him about once a week in the summer and maybe every 10 days in the winter. After rinsing the conditioner out and I towel him off, I always mist 1 or 2 pumps of the Paul Mitchell spray conditioner (the Almond one) on my hands and just work it through his coat. Make sure you get the belly. Then I brush him out. |

| I use PEK conditioner, which is very thick, green, and in a white tub container. I also use Isle of Dogs heavy conditioner and IV SanBenard Disentangling conditioner.

| I just want to say...I LOVE the Isle of Dogs No 63 Detangling Spray!! I ordered it from Kristin(Maximo) when i got my buddy belts and decided i'd give it a whirl. I had bought cheaper detangling spray from Petco and it seemed like it made the problem worse not better. The first day I tried it, Ricky had poo dried in his hair...a little spritz of the IOD and a brush and it came right out.....He had kaopectate in his beard and it was crusty...that came out easily...and today, he stepped in these tiny burdock stickies and got them all over his legs...with a little IOD and patience, those came out too!! I love it!! Not only does it help brush the mats out, it helps keep them out too afterwards. His hair has been way less tangled since we started using it. Maybe i will get his coat to reach the ground yet!! I think I am going to have to stock up on it!! This particular detangling spray is normally $26.00 a bottle and Kristin has it on sale for $13.00 right now. It's definitely worth every penny!! I also just ran across IOD shampoo and conditioner at Pet Supplies Plus!! I didn't buy any there as I'd rather buy them from Kristin and support a fellow YT person, but I think I will be trying their line of shampoo and conditioner next!! |

| I use IOD conditioning spray, too, and I also use Isle of Dogs Primrose Shampoo #10 and Heavy Conditioner #51 along with a few IV San Benard products. IOD Royal Jelly shampoo is excellent too.
