I have a Morkie who tangles easily, especially around her legs. Her hair texture isn't cotton, but it isn't silky either. It's almost coarse. I've been using #1 All Systems Super Rich Protein Lotion Conditioner on her & it's been working really well.

I used Pet Silk shampoo & conditioner for the first time on her yesterday. That stuff seems to be working pretty well too. The Silk Sheen works well on my silky coated Yorkies because it makes the coat a little slippery so that tangles don't have a chance to form.

Do you have a Madan brush? If not, that's a MUST. They're excellent for brushing & glide through tangles. Mimimomo sells them in her shop. You want the small, medium/firm cushion.
