| Help! My Yorkie is a Groomers nightmare! Sunny is 5 1/2 months....got groomed today for the second time...she was snappy, wiggly, snarly....got her body and back of her head taken care of, but her legs, paws, and face were a no go....gotta wonder if the first time she got groomed they were mean to her. This groomer ( different from the first groomer) seems to think so.... Will she calm down as she gets older? Is there a "good" time of day to take a dog to the Groomers? Morning? Afternoon? I hate that she is such a little pisser about being groomed!! I am going to take her baxk Saturday and the groomer said she would try to trim up her face a bit, and just take her time and let Sunny hang out for as long as it takes. She didnt charge me for today.... Any suggestions? Bobbi

| Work with her daily on grooming. Does she accept you brushing her? I would run a little clipper too to make sure she is accustomed to the noise and the feel when she goes to the groomer. You can pretend to clip with it. Talk to her while you are working and praise her. I would do all of this while she is standing on a counter or tabletop (like the groomer), and not on your lap or the floor. Familiarity and practice will enable her to accept the groomer. It won't happen naturally with age.

| How is she when you groomer her? Mine can be monsters for me but are angels for the groomer.

| Izzie will not let me bathe her. If she even thinks I'm doing baths she will hide in a corner and she shows her teeth and tries to bite me if I try to pick her up. This started out when I tried a new groomer. Two months ago I had to take her to the vet and he had to put her under just to do her face. I took my others to a new groomer last month and she said she would try with Izzie. I held her while she shaved the face (with her wanting to snap at both of us) and she was so scared she pooped on the ladys counter. I left her there for a bath and the groomer said she did just fine. That's what I'm going to do from now on because it seems better than stressing both of us out. Izzie is 5 yrs old. |

| Thanks for the input guys! i have been working with her over the past few days, rewarding her and praising her when she lets me get near her with the brushes and scissors....lucky for me she is a fast learner and loves to be rewarded with training treats! I would love to know what happened at the first groomers...I would so love to blast them! She was never like this before and it all came to light after this new groomer and what happened. Poor baby! Lucky for me she was able to groom her body, minus her face. Her face isnt that bad, though she looks like a lion and the kids have called her "big head".... It is quite comical and I never really realized exactly how tiny she still is (3lbs)! I will take her back tomorrow and stay with her and try to get her nails clipped and a few stray hairs snipped, if only for her to get used to going there. The groomer said she is willing to do whatever it takes to get Sunny over this hump. Me too.....lets face it, she is going to have to deal with grooming sessions for the next how many years?! Bobbi

| Pluto did this the first few times and it was right off the bat. He did it with me too. He's getting better. Brushing him daily has stopped most of it now. |
