![]() Is anyone interested in not wasting money? well after more experimenting with another fancy brand name Andis clipper which btw is worthless!!! These things are heavy, loud, and just does not cut their hair well at all despite all the rave reviews which I think are from the mfg employees. Maybe I'm just doing wrong, either way I don't like them and found a great alternative. You know what really works and doesn't cost an arm and leg??? drum roll... a good men's cordless beard trimmer! like this one I got from amazon for measly $20. It's light, quiet, cordless, easy to maneuver and best of all it actually cuts through the hair like hot knife through butter. And it's even powerful enough for my maltese who's hair is really dense and curly. Plus I can use it not only for the main body, but for hard to get places like the toes, ears, and around face. I always have to learn the hard and expensive way but now I don't fear grooming and don't have to pay $40 and have groomers abuse my dog when I leave them there. And I do 3x better job shampooing than the groomers who cut and shave "after" shampoo which to me is kinda backwards. They're dirty and dusty after a haircut. This Remington HC5150CDN Cord/cordless Rechargeable Beard Trimmer is good, any of their line is great if it's out of stock. Try ebay if amazon is out...cheers to happy grooming! ![]() Last edited by apple718; 02-12-2012 at 12:30 PM.

![]() THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS!!! After having the most horrific experience with a new after mine moved far far away I have decided to learn how to groom my Yorkies so that I can do it at home! I have to admit I am very nervous and 75% clueless but this sure does make me feel a whole lot better! THANKS AGAIN!!!!

![]() 5 years ago prior to owning my yorkie & maltese I had no clue and most of all just really fearful I might do the wrong thing or mess up their hair or look. Well let me tell you it is so much easier once you start and a dog's hair is 10x more forgiving than say cutting human hair. You really don't have to be exact or perfect and even if you don't cut even, you will see that a yorkie's or maltese hair will grow out and somehow looks even after a week or so.. don't fret or freak out if right after it doesn't look 100% perfect. And don't let the groomers scare you like I did when they told me things like: "oh ppl shouldn't attempt to cut their dogs hair because their hair is different than ours and leave it to the professional". Trust me it's all bunch of lies so we can spend our $$$ with groomers. Well one thing they got right, their hair is much easier than our hair. If you make a mistake or don't do it right on a human haircut it will show up more drastically and there's no way to fix it. With a dog, I've noticed that it will grown out the same whether I cut it perfectly or not so much. And the best thing is I can do it anytime, a quick light trim or heavy cut during the summer. And the more you do it, the easier it will be and did it mention fun? I honestly feel like a pro. Here are some pics to prove it: http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/7277/no006.th.jpg Last edited by apple718; 04-01-2012 at 09:20 AM.

![]() Wow Apple, GREAT job on those cuts!!! I have decided that I want to groom my Daisy myself...she is about 4 months old now and her hair is really starting to grow and I want to keep her hair pretty short. Anyhow, it seemed intimidating at first, but after watching the videos posted here, I feel like I can do it! So, thank you Marcerella!!!! ![]()
