| I don't think you should cut the yorkie's ears. Why would you want to do it? I would just let him have cute floppy ears!

| I think the OP just means if they should cut the hair off the ears...like keep them short and close to the ear or have them long like tassles I hope anyway!!

| I reeeaaaaly may not be a good "goto" person as Cooper gets some pretty bad haircuts and he's a yorkie/maltese mix. However I've had his hair in both short and semi long phases. I have a photo of him in semi-long hair and then I have a photo of him in his horrific lamby haircut. Now that I look at the photos, I think I like his short lamb ears. They bounce up and down when he runs and it's so cute! cooper bday boy.JPG DSC02674.JPG

| I cut them short around the ear leather but leave the hair on the actual leather long, I don't shave it at all.

| Were you thinking the op was literally going to cut her dog's ears?

| Sounds bad, huh? Can I blame it on momentary lack of brain function due to perimenopause?

| Both of my girls have floppy ears. I've had them bobbed before, especially while Lane's hair was growing out from her "rescue cut," but I think I prefer them longer now much like how a maltese in full coat would look. I do think the bobbed ears tend to make them look younger and more puppyish though!

| I always liked the long hair - but I do trim Coco's ears - even though they are floppy. You can see from my avatar.

| Thanks for the answers !! If you had a yorkie, in floor length coat with floppy ears, would you cut the tip of the ear hair or let it all be long ? im trying to get Fido in floor length coat and im not sure if i should hold his hair short or let them grow

Oh my gosh this reminds me of a time when my sister asked me to cut her 5 yr old sons hair. So in the process of cutting his hair in a much shorter cut for summer I asked her " Do you want me to cut his ear out?"..... and oh my he went nuts... started crying and took off running from me holding his hands over his ears and yelling "no no dont cut my ear, I need them to hear" The kid actually thought I was going to cut his ear off!! Too funny...I couldn't stop laughing.
