| Should I ?? Scared to! i see all the pics of you gals cutting ur pups-i do it also, but just the basic trimming (i had been letting maddie grow out). i love the look of the shorter body cut with the long hair left on the head (with the rounded face cut). But im terrified to try it on her, and i will not taker her to the groomer. heres my question--maddie has super fine hair (pics below) would that cut look good on her?? would the face hair fluff up, or would it still lay flat like it kinda does now. i love her hair growing out--but want a change and i think she might be happier too. i love the new grooming link in the new section and thats kinda the look i want for maddie--do you think it would work on her?? | Misty, both of my guys have thick hair so I don't know how it would do. Hopefully someone will pipe in with their experience. BTW Maddie is adorable.

Maddies hair is thin to med hair, but more on the thinner side if that makes sense. but the minute it gets wet its alittle curley all over--but the blow dryer and brush takes care of that ( its kinda like a soft spiral perm)

| Jada is kind of that way. She doesn't mat, but her hair is thicker and really curly if I let her air dry.

| It would work on her, but it would look a little different than that because Layla is more cottony/wooly. Harley's hair is kinda in between. When I trim his face shorter, it gives it more body and looks fluffy. I can't load my pictures right now, will try later but if you want you can look at my Harley album and see the different variations he's had of this cut. His looks best with the hair long on his legs and his face long, but it depends on the body type and hair texture.

| I see all the pics of people cutting their pup's hair & even when it looks cute..it makes me :::sigh::: ZoE is 19 weeks old today and I'm patiently (ok..not so patiently...lol) waiting for her hair to grow. I know everyone says, it's ok to cut, cos it's just hair & it grows back....but it takes soooo long to grow back. Maddie is a cutie with her longer hair. I vote keep it

| LOL, THANKS! I know thats why im afraid to cut it---it takes forever to grow on her. but the minute she goes outside in the rain, snow, or just the morning dew on the grass---her hair looks like i havent groomed her in a week. and then its all wavey and shaggy looking , even though she had a bath the day b4. thats why im leaning towards this cut.

| Whee...I found you thread . Zhoie's coat is cottony, so she has alot of hair. Not nearly as much as Layla. I can't get Zhoie's face in the beautiful round look that Layla has either. I only shave the tips of Zhoie ears (about 1/3), so that is where she gets some of her round face hair beside her ears. Plus we are letting her visor bangs growout, so now she has a topknot, that may give more head hair look too, not sure. Just throwing...maybe's out there. I think Maddie has the beautiful silky coat that I so dreamed of when I thought of getting a yorkie, But, I got my girlie butt and now I wouldn't trade her for the world. If youdo decide to try it, perhaps just round her face a little, don't bother her legs and cut the back short. See how you like it....but hold onto the thought....it's only hair, it will grow back. I have to remind myself everytime I break out my trimmers, LOL

| I have been grooming mine for almost 3 years now and still get a little nervous, especially if I try something new. I just keep telling myself, it grows back! lol Hot Rod has thin silky hair. When I have tried to grow him out, his hair is almost too stragly. Maggie has a really pretty coat-its straight but a lot thicker and fuller than Hot Rods. Hubby likes and wants to keep their butterfly ears and doesn't really say much about their body. dog park Sept9 019.JPGHot Rod last summer. I usually keep their faces long. IMAG0383.jpg Hot Rod, last month, Hot Rod & Maggie (2).jpgJust after a bath, Maggie May 3-6-11 (4).jpgMaggie May has a fuller coat so Maddie's hair might not be as fluffy. But like human hair, if you blunt cut it, it does give a little more umph.

| My dream dog was always the Yorkie with the long flowing hair. Sophie's long hair was gorgeous, but since I LOVE to dress her, it does not work. So, I bit the bullet and had her cut. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!! I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. She has the Joey or Chinese Crested cut. Rounded face with topknot, long hair on legs and tail, short body. I was sure to tell the groomer to cut her under her arms too...that's where she mats with clothes on. She still looks very girly and is oh so cute!!! I think I have some pictures in my album. I will NEVER go back to the long flowing hair.

I had Bogie cut in a puppy cut before Christmas (took him to groomer) and fell in love with the short cut. Jada's I did myself shortly thereafter. They will never be in a long coat again. They both acted like different dogs and seem so much happier, more playful and much more comfortable. I have come to realize the long hair was for me and not what they wanted.

| Thankyou so much for the comments, and pics. It helps me kinda see the possibilities with her b4 i make that first cut. i love her long flowing hair, but like i said --the slightest moisture in the air or on the ground and BAMMMMMMMM---not straight anymore---stragley and ungroomed look--the only way to fix it when that happens is to blow dry her-- i know thats bad for her skin when done to much. And living in nebraska the weather is never going to help the cause. OHHHHHHHHH WHAT TO DO???? i know its hair---i know it will grow back---but its taken me 2 years to get her where she is now--- if i decide to do this--what size blade guard would you use on her back? i have a wahl cordless pro ( i think is the name) again thank you for all you help!
