Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Scarlett has the cotton coat that needs to be brushed every day. She becomes a matted mess if I skip a day.

| Khloe has a cotton coat and has to be brushed daily or she develops mats. Couver on the other hand has a silky coat and can be brushed once every week or couple of weeks and be completely fine.

| Thanks everyone for their answer ! These answers have helped me alot I think I'll just groom him every day Please post pics of your cottons also I want my cotton to grow coat to the floor... it would be fun to see how long coat your cottony yorkies have ! This is Fido like he's now, old pic, but his coat length is excatly the same as now. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._1602783_n.jpg His coat is pretty much short now, but yesterday I was grooming him, and I found a matt on his leg! not a big one, just a small one Also, do your furbabies hurt when you brush the matts out? Fido cried yesterday when i was fixing his little matt, he looked at me like with those sad eyes, like i was hurting him, but i'm extremely careful! I think he just has to get used to this also, he has been cut short in a long time, in about a one and a half year, maybe he's just forgotten how it is to have long coat

| Also, Fido never gets these knots under the arm, cause he doesnt use clothes. Well, when its really cold , or really really much rain (not often) I use a sweater on him , or a raincoat. Im getting two sweaters with silk inside of them, can't wait they don't matt as much , almost nothing, also they are kind of a vest, they dont touch the stomach area much, just a thin peace that is to hold the vest on him , he always matts so much on the stumach. Also, I'm going to cut him almost naked on the stumach, nobody see's it, im gonna have hair on the chest , and where the stomach is i will cut the coat then i dont have to brush huge matts out of there. He matts so little on the back, almost nothing! propably because he has black coat there. Where the golden color is, he matts way more, like at his feet, and stumach where the coat is grey-ish,but the black coat, almost never matts and he's mostly black!

| Your baby is so adorable! Both of my boys have cottony wavy coats. I keep them cut fairly short (longer in winter, shorter in summer) so there really isn't much of a problem with tangles and mats. I try to brush them every other day or so and just use a light mist of grooming spray first. I have several different bottles of product , but my favorite brand is Crazy Dog in the Baby Powder scent. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I always thought Bridget had a cotton coat - but after reading these posts I don't know what she has. Her coat is growing really slow. When I compare Bridget and Greta - Greta's coat is to the floor but Bridgets is still a few inches from the floor. Greta's coat is "cool" to the touch, and Bridget's feels "warm" - if that makes any sense. Greta's is so smooth, Brigets has a little wave to it. Except her head is very silky feeling. Bridget never matts, and Greta seems to matt on her underside. Anyone have any thoughts? Someone mentioned she could possibly be "Red-legged"? Would I use the same shampoo/conditioner/etc as for a Cotton Coat?

| Yes there are matts, not usually tight unless he has been out in the rain or snow. I cut into them with a scissors. Hi coat is so thick I figure he can afford to sacrifice some hair. |

| I brush Lulu at least once a day. If she is wearing clothes, I brush her before putting the clothes on & then after taking them off. If not she becomes matted & it is not fun brushing her out. I use Yorkie Sheen detangler/conditioner before brushing.

| Trying to decide I have been reading all of your post. I am very undecided if my max is cotton or silky. I have been with my dad over the last few days and my husband came to bring max to see me and I noticed his hair feels a little sticky to say the least. ha ha . No telling what my husband has let him get into. Normally his hair feels very soft and he has a very thick coat, there may be some wave to it. Also, any suggestions about one ear up one down. Up until a week ago both ears were down I started him on a spoon full of cottage cheese for 4 days and on 4th day ear stood up. He 15 weeks old. Love to hear all ideas or thoughts. |

| Thanks for the answers!! Im defenitly going to buy Ice On Ice ! I can't get that Yorkie Sheen in Iceland, I use Pet Silk and its working great for Fido. I can only get these products here : Pet Silk Tropiclean Bio Groom E-Z Groom Plush Puppy Crazy Pet/Dog Coat Handler Bark2Basic Trixie Chris Christensen I don't remember any other products that I can get here. I don't like Tropiclean, I bought a bottle and tried it, and it sucks! The good smell goes away as soon as the dog is dry. Bio Groom is expensive cause I have to use so much of the shampoo so it will work good. The shop that sells EZ groom is so far away that I can never go there. Plush Puppy is so expensive. Coat Handler and Bark2Basic are only sold at an online store, and I can't buy products online. Trixie is so cheap that I don't believe that it would work any good, also I don't like the smell of it. Chris Christensen is really expensive (60-70 dollars for 1 liter of shampoo is very much, I can't afford it), but I'm gonna try CC Ice on Ice , its expensive too but I'm gonna try it I think im gonna stick to Pet Silk shampoo and conditioner, but use some other grooming sprays and matt sprays I'm not into Pet Silk grooming sprays (I cant handle the strong strong smell).
