Face washing?

I usually just use a little Fluffy Puppy on a wet wash cloth but sometimes it is an extra step or two to rinse it out well. Do you rinse these facial cleansers? I love Espree products so know I won't be disappointed, just not sure on which to order.

I've been using the Aloe/Oatmeal because it is fragrance free and thought that would be best for them because one of mine has sensitive skin. I just dab it on, wet the hair a little and rub it in then wipe off with a warm washcloth. Works good for a quick clean up and also use it on them when doing the full bath/spa.

I use a measuring cup to pour water down the back of the head and then the front, directing water away from the ears. I also hold down the ear flaps a bit, and I think my dogs keep their ears down. They have a lot of hair which may also help keep the water out. I have to use a washcloth on the sides of their heads to make sure no shampoo lingers at the base of their ears. Some books I have read recommend putting a cotton ball in their ears. I tried, but the cotton ball wouldn't stay put.

My boys aren't crazy about the process of washing their faces, but they like the end result of feeling clean and they love the attention. By the time we are finished bathing and blow drying, they are like butter melting. Then I give them a bed fresh from the laundry and they go off to dreamland.

She is an angel. I don't know why, but she has always liked to have her face washed. I sit her on a chair in the bathroom and she sits there just so sweet. Now, the funny thing is that she tries to become invisible at bath time.

Maybe we can combine our dogs: Max likes having his body washed and Kacee likes having her faced washed.

That sounds ideal! Funny thing! Muffin always stayed on the mat until my bath was over. Kacee wants no part of it. She won't even go in there, if she thinks it's my bath time.

How old is Teppi? You might have to work with her, train her to accept grooming. Go slowly, and be patient, calm, confident, and reassuring. Talk to her, tell her what you are going to do, praise her when she is calm, and offer treats when she behaves correctly.

Work on grooming when she worn out after a play session or a walk. Don't attempt it when she is full of energy. Make grooming a relaxing and pleasant experience. I incorporate a lot of massage into the bathing and combing process.

Careful with water and shampoo near eyes and ears. Be sure to rinse very well to make sure nothing is in the eyes.

Thank you for all your advice. I haven't tried to wash her face with any kind of products yet. I have just used a warm cloth to try to get her use to it or to get the eye stuff off. Trying to get the bath shampoo out of her beard took more time than she was willing to give. So I'm going to get something else to use on her face. The advice about grooming her after she's worn out for whatever reason works GREAT!!! I'm taking it slow & easy & following all your instructions. For now I do it @ the end of the day when we get ready for bed, after she has found a spot on the bed to curl up & go to sleep. She's not fighting me or trying to get away much @ all now. It's becoming alot more pleasant for both of us. I forgot, my Mom brought home this waterless bath spray just now that she got @ Wal-Mart. It's made by Minute Groom. You just spray, rub, wipe with no suds. It says that it cleanses, deodorizes, moisturizes with Aloe & Jojoba. Teppi goes to the groomer today for the 1st time so I'll try this new spray later when she needs a little clean up. It also says you can use it for a bath & has really simple instructions. If it works it'll be good for a quick bath when you need it & short on time. Thanks, Teppi & Pam

Some people like Pet Head. I haven't tried it. Haven't heard any reviews of the new Kong line. I personally don't care for any of the other brands.

I love BioGroom's Fluffy Puppy, but it has to be ordered online. Espree has a tearless shampoo available at Petco.

Teppi is still squirming & eating me alive everytime I try to groom her or wash ANYTHING! Doesn't matter what I do. I keep coming up with new ideas but nothing works. Baby steps, I guess. lol I can only get a little done each day when I catch her taking a nap or bedtime & washing anything is out of the question. She looks fine & smells so we'll just have to keep working @ it. lol Pam & Teppi

I have been using just a warm wash cloth and water, but thanks for everone advise on the wash to use to on their beards and to smell fresh again. I am going to order some.

I had to start sloww too with the brushing. Jack would not in the beggining stand for it. After going to the groomer he got better the after he seen me brushing Josie he thinks she is getting more attention then him. So now I try to hide when I brushing one cause then they both want to be brushed and waller (sp) all over me then it turns into play. They usually come up to me to be brushed in the morning when they see me getting dressed and doing my hair.

Thank you! Right now we still have some vet shampoo left from Gizmo so we will probably use that and then order the FluffyPuppy (Love that name..).
