Anyway, Mardelin suggested I get one, so of course I listened to her like a good girl should and got one! I got mine off Amazon, so if you are boycotting Amazon, you'll have to look around for it. I got mine right before that whole Amazon thing happened. Amazon.com: Isinis Hair Brush * Made In France:... But get the regular nylon bristle one. The bristles are stiffer and more densly packed than the Madan. I still love my madan, but with the isinus I don't find I have to bust out my metal tooth comb to break up really bad mats. The Isinus you need to go in with a softer hand to loosen up the mats, the once they are kind of opened up you can go in with a harder hand and brush those suckers out.

I put coats on the boys yesterday for their morning walk. Ugh, what a mess. They combed out fairly easily with a wide-toothed metal comb/rake, but I hate the hassle of trying to keep the long beards and chest hair out of the velcro closures.

I couldn't live without the ISINIS brush. (Thank you Mary!) My father ordered one for himself and it tamed the cowlicks and fuzzies he had developed in his silver hair.

Glad to hear you are using the wide toothed comb, for me it takes out the least amount of hair.

Not sure how cold in virginia it is, but until the snow flies and gets below 40 F I use the mud jacket for Razz man. www.muddypaws.ca The thing is it has no velcro to tangle hair, it covers the legs and belly and the back is open. Sometimes I don't even put the wrapping jacket on first. Of course Razz is wrapped, but if you do that ponytailing off like I suggested you shouldn't get too many tangles. I just make sure my stinker doesn't dive into a leaf pile and roll around on his back

Boy I learnt the hard way about those velcro enclosures, the first winter we had Razz, we of course took him with our other pups to the indoor heated doggie pool, and I always put life jackets on all dogs, anyhow we had a grand old swim, and when I went to take the life jacket off, it was all stuck to his hair.... I about cried, this was when he was a pup and too young yet to wrap. Now of course he goes in swimming with his wraps and jacket and life jacket on top. In winter time it is hard because it is at least 1/2 day event to take the three swimming, as everyone is shampooed, conditioned and blowdried after swim. Brushed out and of course Razz is wrapped back up. Which reminds me I have to book our next swim

Another alternative is a coat where the velcro attaches at top. There's no dangling hair up there, and it's easier to see what you're doing. I like Fido Fleece for that.

Gail, I tried the pseudo-wrap, quick ponytails technique on the boys. Worked very well.
