I found this after purchasing the topknot gel. I would try it and see if he minds it. You can get flax seed at wal-mart I think or any health food store.

I agree on the comment that some groomers just don't listen. I've taken Gwen to 2 different groomers. The first one I said a puppy cut with longer on the face picked up a shaved dog with a shaved nose. The second time (same groomer) I said longer and longer on the face "just even it out a bit" (thinking I hadn't made my wishes clear the first time) picked up an almost shaved dog again with a shaved nose. The third time I went to a different groomer that my friend uses for her Yorkie and said "just a little shorter than she is, don't shave her nose and just tip her ears" drop off her face hair was finally about three inches long pick up her back was shaved very short, face was about 3/4 inches and not at all what I asked for....kind of a schnauzer-ish cut.
I have a friend from high school grooming at his house now, he has standard poodles, so I'm going to give him a try next time....when her hair grows out again........*sigh*
