They are different formulas with the Maracuja designed for long coated breeds like yorkies. I've tried both formulas the original PEK and the maracuja. I like them both, but prefer the scent of the original over the maracuja. And, actually may have got better results with the original formula.

Thanks! So now I am just not-so-patiently waiting for my account to be validated so I can shop! I'm excited to try the PEK because my little guy is cottony and we have never been able to grow his hair to any length. But I want to try and it sounds like this product will help!

Does his coat break, just slow to grow or do you keep him cut down?? I ask bc typically a cotton coat will grow faster than silk. The PEK won't grow coat but will make a difficult coat easier to groom. If his coat is very short you may not notice a huge difference until the coat grows out some. But once he has hair more than an inch or so long, you'll notice how much easier it is to get out tangles, also his hair will feel like silk.

Be certain to leave the PEK on his coat for a few minutes. I comb it through my kids coats and it takes about 5 minutes with the shorter coats and 10 min. or so with Reno in full coat.

I love the scent of the original. :) I have not tried any other scent, but that one is wonderful.

No, it grows fast. We just keep him cut short so that he doesn't mat and tangle. He isn't fond of grooming either so it seems more fair to him to keep it short than to struggle with the brushing. His hair (my lovely DH is measuring it as we speak) is about 3 inches long right now. I am also going to invest in a better brush and comb. We use a pin brush and pin comb, but I noticed the pins on the brush are starting to push in. Any ideas on brushes? Thanks for the tip on how long to leave the conditioner in. I am also going to get a new spray bottle to dilute for daily brushing.

Aha...I understand now. Reno has a silk coat now, but his puppy coat could be a nightmare to deal with as it was typical cottony puppy hair. The PEK saved us both! I was determined to grow out his coat, with the puppy mats and adult long coat coming in, I would spend hours combing out little mats. You'll see a big difference in the ease of combing out tangles, and his coat will feel so silky soft.

I've got several brushes and prefer the Chris Christensen pin brushes. I use their smallest metal pin brush and also love the wood pin brush. I know many yt members love the Madan brushes from Mimimomo (Jenny, topline pet, I think) and they are more reasonably priced than the CC ones.

I have seen some recommendations for Madan as well and found them on toplinepet. I've also seen Chris Christensen recommended for all types of products. Is that line sold retail in a store or just online? I need to google, I guess, and do some research.

Hi and welcome to YT! I've used a few of the Plush Puppy products but not since finding Iv San Bernard. Without definite instructions on how to use, I would probably use about a tsp of the blow dry cream, rub between your palms and then over the coat of your dog. I would work the cream into a damp coat, then blow dry. The Seabreeze oil is typically used when you are wrapping a dog, it's to protect , moisturize and condition the coat. Show dogs are kept in oil with wraps in between shows. If you're not wanting to wrap your dog's coat, I would just very lightly spray the coat and brush the oil through.

I don't know about the dilution rates. You may just have to play around with the ratios to get the mix right. As like the ISB products, there probably is no "set" amount, I would use whatever works for your dogs.

TexasKat08 02-20-2011 10:29 AM

Ordered apple shampoo & conditioner, clarifying shampoo and PEK conditioner from ISB. Can't wait to try it all out!!

LOLOL...no, you're not alone! My grooming cabinet looks like I've opened shop for hair products. I'm always searching for the "ultimate product" and honestly feel like the Iv San Bernard is it. I've been using it now for over a year and that is by far the longest any product has lasted here....and I've actually re-ordered - which, I almost never do.

Here ya go:

PEK Conditionner : Iv San Bernard (USA & Canada), Fine Italian Pet Grooming Products and Equipment

They do set up at some dog shows. Also, I talked to their rep about the possibility of them offering sample sizes here on YT. She told me they would when they got back in the States - they were in Canada right then.

The one thing I've heard from some show people is, the conditioner will make hair so silky, they have to use extra top knot gel/spray or stick-em up.....but that's not a problem, given the great results for the rest of the coat. I suggested watering it down for the topknot hair.

Looks like there are different kinds on that site. Orange n mint. Which one do you all use?

TexasKat08 02-23-2011 06:43 PM

Shoot! The ISB guy (with a super heavy accent) called me today (awesome customer service) to tell me they were out of the medium size bottle of PEK and my items wouldn't ship until Monday. I am disappointed, but I think he said they would ship them overnight.

I would order the original PEK, the container on their site looks orange, but the product itself is green in color.

Sorry about the delay, I know it's hard to wait.

That would be Baxter, I believe he is French/Canadian and he is super nice. I've always received excellent customer service from anyone with ISB.

I am totally in love with PEK conditioner and mink oil from IV San Bernard. This is our second bath using these products and the second time is even better than the first. I am amazed, Bella's coat normally has very little shine, after her bath today she is almost glowing and soooooooo soft and silky! I will never use anything else again!!!!!

I shampoo my dogs then towel dry them and spritz it on, the brush or comb just slides right thru. Amazing. Using it as a spritz, it will last a long long time. Don't use too much either. A little dab will do ya. I put about a half to 3/4 teaspoon to a pint of water. Use hot water to dissolve it faster when you make it.
Has anyone else tried it this way?

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU DEB!!!

I finally made my PEK spritz and am just AMAZED at how much easier Cabo's grooming was today. The comb went through his coat with hardly a snag. The ball of hair left in the comb after his comb out was just about nil proving it goes through the snarls and mats with ease and does not rip them out. And it doesn't leave a heavy or greasy feel when dry.
It is truly a miracle product for the heavier coats!! I will post some pics tonight for you to see. Thanks again!!

Well, that PEK MUST be great stuff 'cause it was back-ordered and back-ordered again! I got a smaller bottle until the bigger bottle was shipped a few days later. Great customer service!

Anyway, used it for the first time (along with the apple shampoo/balsam) yesterday and even the DH noticed a difference. I just can't believe how soft Nicco's coat feels!

Yep...I love the feel of their coats...and the smell! That original scent is wonderful. :) I have not tried other scents.

Bitsy 03-07-2011 08:28 PM

Just sent them an email to place an order for the conditioner and mink oil! Can't wait!!!!

Deuce 03-08-2011 06:56 AM

I'm really excited to order this product :) Rizz has a modified coat so I'm looking forward to less tangles and a more silk-like feel. I'm planning to try the GA Shampoo, the original conditioner, eye cleaner, and the purifying shampoo. Now I just need the rep to get back to me on the shipping quote and we'll be home free :)

Hi all,
So here's my question.... I have read this thread and was wondering if anyone can tell me if it would help my little "mess". LOL. This is a pic of him during the winter when I could not get him to the groomer. I usually keep him short because of his curly, thick cotton coat.

Deuce 03-16-2011 10:49 AM

I would think so, many cotton coated yorkie parents have had a lot of luck with this. I'm still waiting for my order to arrive, but Rizz has a thin combination coat.
I think the OP has a pup with a thick cotton coat and she was singing praises. Try to get with one someone who is planning an order so you can order a bottle or two. The website has a $75 min order for the wholesale price, and I'm not sure of anywhere that sells the shampoo/conditioner.

Ladym 03-16-2011 11:06 AM

His coat is super soft when I shampoo him. He won't let me blow dry him and he's not fond of brushing for any length of time. He tangles easily with the curls and he looks like a big ball of fur if I don't keep him short. I would love to have him with a longer coat even for a little while. I can't spend the money right now.. but will keep this site in mind.
thanks

Oh my goodness Ladym,
That could be a picture of my Bonnie right now. LOL
I need to take her to the groomers so bad. I have let her hind quarters get some mats. Any suggestions as to how to get these out before I have to have her shaved?

I tried a spray detangler that I got at walmart. Kinda works but some I had to cut out. If you can separate the mat into sections it is easier. Also the ones you can't comb out try cutting into them the long way ( along side the hair not accross it) and then comb. Good luck. It's a daily chore that's for sure. LOL
