YT Addict | Hair around eyes Just wondering what other people do to the hair that grows around the eyes. I haven't don't anything yet and haven't decided if I'm going to grow it out or what. Is it possible to grow it out? It's those hairs that are exactly between the eyes. I know some people cut it/clip it. What do you do?

| With my Yorkies I have always preferred the look of letting it grow out, BUT, if they refuse to wear a top knot then I would trim the eyes. My Nala who is my avatar always refused to where any bow what so ever. She actually would pull out everyone else's bow too!! I guess I wasn't any help .

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Some people clip it, but then you have to clip it at least monthly. I decided to grow Joey's out, but it was always getting in his eyes, and I found that Petsilk grooming gel works for keeping the stray hairs out of eyes until hair is long enough for a band. One of the show breeders, Mardelin, recommended Cindra Sculpting Gel, and I think I will order that next time, you want to use something made for dogs, so that it will not harm their eyes if the hair does fall down. Some people use two bands and put the first band in low to hold the short hairs, and others just use a mini-clip to hold the short hairs, there are lots of different options. This site has some good tips for getting them use to bows and bands, and also how to put in a bow so that they can't take it out. http://www.thedivadogbowtique.com/howto.php

YT Addict | I know how to make top knots with bows, I even make my own bows. She only pulls them out sometimes but usually is pretty good with them. For the lower 'bang' area I use a kid style barette, it's plastic and it holds VERY tight. I used these when I was a kid. I'm just asking about the hair between the eyes. I guess her previous owner clipped the hair between the eyes as well as like the 'bang' area, but I'm growing the 'bang' area out and was wondering what I should do with between the eyes. I guess I'll grow it out, too, and use gel per your suggestion (its not long enough to put into the barette), Nancy! Thanks

| When Buddy's hair was longer it was always in his eyes. He won't tolerate a band in it so I cut it, just the part in front of his eyes, I think it's called a visor cut. The rest parts in the middle and just hangs on each side of his face nicely. I can't stand not seeing his eyes so I can just imagine how annoying it must be for them as well. If you want a top knot you have to just go with it until it grows in. Pet Silk has a gel that holds hair nicely in place. I have used it but this is easier for me and he's big so he looks mancho with his hair cut this way |
