| How long does it take... to have a yorkie's hair grow out long (like down to the floor)? She's 8 months now and has had 2 puppy cuts . Her body hair is about 3 inches long. Do you take her to the groomer's for a trim every so often? Thanks!! |

| I think it depends on the dog but about 18 months I believe. Zoe's hair has never been trimmed and it's not to the floor yet and she turned 1 at the beginning of the month. |

| I had the same question. So do you take them every so often to be trimmed, or just let it grow until it is grown out? I am assuming I still need to take Preston to have his feet, bottom and privates cleaned up? |

| This sounds about right to me too....I've never cut my Jakes coat and he's 14 months old and his coat is about 1 1/2 inches from the floor......

I learned from my show mentor that when you have a male in full coat it is best to leave the hair on his private part long so that when he urinates it acts as a hose (so to speak) wicking the urine down it so that he is not peeing on the coat you are trying to grow (as urine causes breakage). I actually leave my males hair long down there and it works like a charm even when he lifts his leg. As for the feet, it is a very good idea to make trimming below the pads a regular thing. | |
