Anyone purchase a Yorkie in NYC?

I agree with the other poster who suggested you check out the YTCA.org breeder referral list. I ended up getting my little guy from Jack Moffitt & Gene Nordquist in Englewood, NJ (right off of the GWB) but I also spoke with Claudia Pierro, Donna Lauricella, and Dr. Valenti who were all very helpful but, unfortunately, did not have any pups ready to go back in late March / early April when I was looking. All of the NYC-area breeders know (or know of) each other and be aware that they tend to fall into two "cliques" so don't necessarily write off (or vice versa) anyone on the list simply because of some catty comments.

I agree, it doesn't make anyone a bad person if they buy from a petstore and just don't know. Before YT i didn't know about puppymills, etc i have learned so much here and now i know not to buy puppies from petstores. I am so happy that you are getting little Macy I also agree that it is worth it to fly to get her, i flew to pick up Sophia and all in all it still comes out cheaper than how much petstores want, they ask for like $3000 for non AKC Yorkies, that's insane!

i think you can find a great puppy from a reputable breeder just have patience!

about how much are you willing to spend?(if you want to share) maybe some of us can help you look up some breeders? please dont go back to that S&V i promise you can find a great breeder that you wont have any doubts about!

Thanks to everyone who posted a reply. Buying a pup has been a total learning experience. I am still in the market to purchase a pup and looking for a reputable breeder. My husband and I are willing to spend anywhere from $600 to $1000. Suggestions kindly appreciated.

I was looking for a puppy for a while doing all research. Breeders wanted a lot of money and i couldnt afford it. Then I found this place where they sell yorkie pups the store called Puppy petite. I went there, the place is clean and everyone i know talk about that place as a good one. I got my little baby there. I paid for him $850. That store works with different breeders that supply them with pups. That place is on 71st and new utrecht

o god i just read the post about that place puppy beautique I had no idea it was a puppy mill. Thank god my baby is healthy so defenately get the pup at the breeder
