Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Looking for reputable breeder in the area Hi, I'm new to the forums. I'm currently looking for good yorkie breeders in the tri-state area. I want a male puppy that will be on the smaller side, perferably 4lbs or under. I've never owned a dog before but i've worked with them in shelters and animal hospitals for years and knows lots about them and their behavior (also have a bs in biology and took some animal behavior classes in college). I've looked around the forums and found a couple nice places that i'm waiting to hear from but i would like to hear of some more. Please let me know where you guys got your puppies from or if you know of any really good breeders around. thanks |

| Some breeders in the NYC area I have found 2 breeders in the NYC area, Pupstory (homebredpuppies.com) and Vanity Pups (vanitypups.com). There is a great breeder in Paterson, NJ named Guy Garner (973-652-7758), he came with excellent recommendations from Puppyfind.com. There are a lot of breeders in the city, I just can't see paying $1000 and up for a puppy. I got my first one from a breeder in NC for a very reasonable price, she was wonderful, but that's a long drive now for a puppy. Hope this helps. |

| Hi I am new here. I have 2 golden retrievers a cat and have been looking to add a yorkie to my family. I wanted some input on the dog. I heard they were not good with little children and since I am a foster parent for little children I was a little worried about that. Also heard they have bad separation anxiety as I work full time so I would be away from the house sometimes 8 hrs a day sometimes my husband does get home early so the dog may be alone 5 hrs of the day. just wondering how true that is. You should post this on the General YT Board. I think you'll get a lot more input than here. Some Yorkies are good with children & some aren't. Some children are good with small animals, & some aren't. Since Yorkies are small, the children should be over 5 to 7 years of age. You should get a Yorkie on the big (tea pot) side (over 7 pounds). Lots of Yorkie owners are away during the day. Older Yorkies sleep a lot. You need to make sure they are in a safe place, have toys to play with, a comfortable place to sleep, & water. Your other dogs would be company. You should check out rescues. Bill

| Breeder in NJ-Guy Garner Hi. I was just at D&G's Petite Pups in Paterson where someone here posted theat puppy find says he is a gread reputable breeder. I'm not so sure. All of the dogs in the cages are from the same breeder. F. Miller in Ohio. I did find the prices low but there are upto 5-6 puppies in a cage. The ears are not up and when I put the 3 dogs I liked on the floor they just stood there. they were active and playful with the other puppies but not when Ip ut them down on the floor. How do we know if Guy is really a good owner? I think he may be getting his puppies from a Mill in OH even though his worker said Oh no we don't get our puppies at puppy mills. She let it slip that the Miller family is Amish***** bells went off in my head. Any advice??? I saw one that I really want and am not sure if I should buy her or not. Thanks all. |
