| Looking for a puppy I live in Brooklyn and would like to get a male Yorkie puppy. I work mostly from my apartment, and it's starting to get lonely around here. My budget is not huge, but I do want the dog to be healthy, and I also want a purebred so I know what to expect. Went to a puppy store in Bensonhurst, but I'm pretty sure those pups come from a mill. A rescue is unlikely to have a purebred puppy under 3 months old, so I guess a breeder is my only choice? Are there any breeders who live in apartments in NYC or are they all out in the country? It would be great if I could take the train to look at a litter instead of just looking at photos and descriptions. Can anyone recommend where to start looking? |

| honestly you can find yorkies walking right down the street in new york homeless. i see them posted for adoption in high kill shelters in your area often. if you want a healthy baby i would suggest you check the ytca Yorkshire Terrier Dog Breeders- Yorkie Puppies i added the link. good luck in your search.

| Thanks. It feels kind of odd just looking at a list and picking a breeder from there without knowing anything about them other than their name and town. Do you think a $500 range is realistic for this area? |

| chefamy89, I found this listing on craigslist in Bethlehem, PA. The owner seems nice, and the price is OK, but I am looking for a male puppy. Maybe this will work for you. pure bred Yorkie |

| Pamela Langstein She's a breeder in Woodmere, NY. Breeds championship yorkies. She's treasure of the Yorkshire Terrier Club of Greater New York. You can also find reputable breeder listings at www.ytca.org. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Please check out the YTCA website for reputable breeders. Remember you may pay a little more but you will be getting a healthier pup. Which means less vet visits. Please do not go on Craig's list or go to pet stores. You are dealing with byb and puppy mills. Good luck in your search. There is a number a great breeders in the tri state area.

| It's safe to assume that "championship" yorkies are going to be extremely overpriced. I am not interested in paying $1,500 for "championship" breeding. I just want to buy a healthy puppy without supporting puppy mills. Craigslist is ok as long as you vet the listings properly. If someone's dog had puppies and they have the mom and the babies and can show all documents, I don't see anything wrong with that. |

| I found my girl on ebay classifieds. I didnt know so much about puppy mills and byb when I got her. Luckily the person I got her from was a very good breeder and she is perfectly healthy as are the rest of his little ones .. Just be careful and do your research!
