Again I stand by my original statment. This breeder is outside the standard. I don't have to contact her. The people I'm attempting to educate are the unsuspecting public. That's what this site is about, protecting the membership. Not accusations, just plain facts on what she has on her website. |
cant we all just agree to disagree and get along? :( |

I had a positive experience with this breeder and actually dealt face to face with Kim's husband, Bob. I went to their home and saw where the puppies were raised and how happy they were. Lulu is a happy, healthy, beautiful little girl. That is all that matters in my mind. For those of you that looked at the website and saw something and didn't like it, go ahead and continue to be judgmental. That is your right. Don't buy a puppy there. Caution people to be wary of the words on the site and ask the breeder about it. But to stretch that into saying a breeder is cruel to her animals without knowing that firsthand, is in my opinion, plain wrong. I stand by my statement on that. |
p.s. @cmgny42 the yorkie in your avatar is gorgeous! |

The only way we have to judge some of these breeders is by their websites, websites can be very deceiving, and I never suggest anyone buy a dog from a website. The problem is that many breeders have learned to "talk the talk, but not walk the walk". What does that mean? It means that they know what to say to perspective buyers to seem "reputable", after all they are salesmen, and learn what works. My point is when a breeder puts such an obvious error on their page such as: Quote:
It means they are trying to "talk the talk", but they don't even know what they are saying. Now if you wish to ignore this or excuse it, that is your privilege, but I will have to argue with you if you want to say it's unimportant, it shows an extreme lack of knowledge about the breed. A word of warning also, showing means very little, anyone can show, and some people call themselves show breeders who have never even won a title for their dog. I don't see any pedigrees or showing information on her website, but I do see words such as adorable "baby doll faces" which the YTCA forbids it's breeders from using. Quote:

I don't know if and when you contacted these people and how? E-mails will not work. Most of us want to know that you are putting forth the effort with a phone call. We want to hear your voice. Second, if you contacted them on a weekend; that doesn't work either, we are at shows. Be persistent; keep on calling back. Oh! Understand, that you may have to wait for that puppy. We don't breed to sell puppies. We breed for ourselves first for our next Champion. So, be prepared to wait. And remember the question/answer thing is a two way street. They will grill you just as much as you will grill them. Our first priority is that pup, we want to make sure that our pup is in the best, loving home possible. You buy your breeder first, then your pup. Your breeder should be there for you 7x24 for the rest of that pups life. |

Barbara Scott in PA is one I'd highly recommend. Have you tried CT. Rose Jenks/Foxfire in CT. |

Although Mistibleu does list on her website there is no such thing as T-Cup or Toy in the Yorkshire Terrier. Anyone breeding should know the basics of the Yorkshire Terrier and that they are a Toy Dog, it does make me concerned how in depth they've studied. I'm glad that your experience with said breeder was a positive one. |

ok ill definately try more on the weekdays. does barbara scott have a website....or is she a member? & i have 2 quick questions....what are good questions to ask a breeder. someone posted some questions earlier in this thread...but they mentioned something about if they were OFA tested & CERF? what is OFA & CERF? |
Quote:
I stated in another thread, that while these tests are very important in breeding lines, they only prove that the breeding pair doesn't have said problems. It doesn't tell you that they aren't carriers. There is no genetic marker for to tell you that. What is extremely important is you puppy healthy, and how your breeder will stand behind their breeding. I know Barbara she's been in the Yorkie world forever, she line breeds....her dogs are beautiful. |

Oh & i found Barbara on YTCA....i checked the distance...& shes too far.:( |

Its close to a 3 hour drive & i DO have patience thank you very much! If it was a better car ....It wouldve been no problem.....but its my dads car & the condition that its in. its a bit old & i dont think it can take that long of a drive. im trying to find a place thats (at the most) 1hr 45 mins away. |
Quote:
Now, have you thought of the train? |
Quote:
Yea i have no problem waiting until then. I feel the longer i wait...the more time i have to research & prepare for a puppy. & I've never really thought about the train....I'll have to check their destinations.... |
Quote:
It's a way for you to at least go and meet these breeders face to face. Get to know them and them get to know you. It would also make a great impression that you made the effort of traveling by train, not letting anything stand in your way. |
I dont know.....I think Ill feel better meeting them at their home instead of them meeting me half way...or at the train station. |
Quote:
Remember these breeders I'm recommending to you are very reputable.....Don't think that you're going to walk away with a puppy on the first meeting. There will be a relationship built first. |
Thats true. But that does seem like a lot. :(. As good as those breeders sound....their distance is just not convenient for me. & Yea i do want to build a relationship with the breeder of my choice....I just rather have them closer. Doing all of that seems a BIT too much. & like I mentioned earlier in this thread....I'm a college student....& school starts this week...theres NO WAY i can do all of this. |

If you don't even have time to travel for a day, are you sure you're going to be able to find the time to care for and train a puppy? I got my puppy a few weeks ago, and he takes up quite a lot of time, patience, money, attention, work... I LOVE every minute of it, but I also have the time... for him. |
