The good news is that she never had HGE again. Her recent bloodwork was amazing, too. My vet said she had the bloodwork of a puppy! Her ALT (liver) went for 302 to 79 (normal) as a result of homecooking. So I tell myself how worth it homecooking is when I am doing the pile of dirty dishes preparing it leaves behind!

| I spoke to the vet; ava is doing well and off the IV; but she’s not eating anything L He said not because she’s sick but maybe because she’s sad and homesick L He said to pick her up later; he would like to see her eat to make sure she can hold the food down without vomiting. now i have to cook something for her today; i dont have any special recipe; but i think i will make some boiled chicken breast and rice; hopefully she will eat that; she's very picky that's why she's in the hospital! uh! this is so frustrating.

| i picked up ava from the hospital and she's doing very well; when i got home i boiled some chicken and rice and gave a bit and she ate it all up; i guess she was really hungry and didn't eat at the hospital; the vet told me to give her little food portion at one time. hopefully she will keep eating. thanks for everyone's support and advice.

| hi all; an update about ava; she threw up yesterday once since she has been back from the hospital ;but it was bile; i suspect she was hungry ; i guess the chicken and rice is not holding up in her stomach. however, i added some baby gerber food (apple and chicken dinner) like the vet told me to the chicken and rice; and let me tell you ; she inhaled it; i know she loves apple so this was perfect for her; i dont know why i didnt try this before when she was giving me hard time eating. (i am not so smart after all; and i have no baby experience ) anyway my question is; do you think i can continue feeding her baby food and chicken and rice; i am afraid to switch back to dog food and have another blood vomiting episode. however i am willing to try the honest kitchen Force formula and see how that goes. any insight is welcome and again thanks all for your support.

BTW, brown rice is much more nutritious than white rice. White rice has been processed to be more attractive, but all the vitamins are in the hull that they remove. When she throws up, is the rice digested? Even with probiotics, Lady couldn't digest the rice. I switched her to oatmeal and she's done great.
