Foster Families Needed If anyone is interested in fostering yorkies, please contact me. Save A Yorkie Rescue needs families in the NY/NJ/CT areas. I am currently the only one here on Long Island who is a foster mom. It is hard to let them go, but they do go to wonderful homes and they keep in touch with us. Please consider this and get in touch with me. Heidi

I'm in NJ and would be interested in fostering. I currently volunteer with Burlington Animal Rescue as a foster home for any Yories, but they don't really get Yorkies into their rescue. Let me know what you need. Elaine

Great to hear from both of you. In order to foster, you need to go to our website - saveayorkierescue.org and fill out the application. Foster families go through the same process as a family looking to adopt -- vet check, reference check, phone interview and home visit. (so many foster families end up adopting one (or more) of the pups they foster -- we call it "failing fostering 101"). If you need any help w/the app, please let me know. We could certainly use your help. Heidi

we need you! We are really in desperate need of foster families in the NYC, NJ & CT areas. I know it is a pain in the butt, but in order to be a foster family in rescue you need to fill out an application as if you were adopting and go through the same process of a vet check and home visit. Please, if you are still interested, send me a PM so that we can talk. Heidi

If you go to our website - Welcome to Save A Yorkie Rescue, Inc. there is an online application (same one as if you are adopting) that you fill out. We need to go through the process because almost all of our foster families have also been adoptive families. We do a vet check and a home visit and once you are approved, you are invited to be a member of SAY Rescue. When pups are surrendered or picked up at shelters we need people to take them in and care for them as if they are your own until the right home is found. As a foster mom, you will talk to the applicants that are interested in the pup you are fostering and give us feedback. It's really pretty simple - all you need is a lot of love to give these babies!
